Nitrates still 160 ppm

No silicates don't cause nitrates.
What kind of dry rock did you get, tha it looks that bad?? Where did you get it?

I got some pukani, reef saver and fiji from brs. I emailed them and they said it could take 4 to 8 weeks for the rocks to cycle through

Yes. Normal cycle time of Live Rock that isn't Fully Cured, is 6-8 weeks. You need to be patient. You can't add anything to the tank until the cycle is over or you risk killing it.

Nope, stop messing with the tank at this point, and let nature take it course.

I think you should try to take your water into the LFS and have them test it again. There is no way that dry rock would cause a 120 spike in nitrates in less than a week. I'm really mystified by what's happening in your tank gemini :(

You should definitely add more Live rock if you're cheep in the beginning you have a bad experience with your tank spend more money on the Live rock more than what you need, they say you should have 1 pound of live rock per gallon in your tank I have a 20 gallon reef tank and I have 35 pounds of Live rock between the tank and the hang on the back filter and your nitrates will drop for sure. Good luck!

I'm sure the ratio is 1.5-2lbs of LR for every gallon and 1lbs of LS for every gallon (recommended)
I could be wrong

We are way off course here.
Nitrogen Cycle can take up and sometimes more than 8 weeks. I'd quit messing with anything, leave the tank alone, and retest in 2 weeks, then again 2 weeks after that, and again 2 weeks after that. This isn't a fast process, and most get into trouble trying to make it a quick process.

Wasn't cured if it was shipped.

Got it from LFS so it was cured for sure. As far as the HOB filter I have a Marineland Penguin 350 and it uses two cartridges with carbon preinstalled. I change them out every 3 weeks or so. I have a Octopus Skimmer coming in on delivery this monday. I'll have to empty 50% of my tank and move it out from the wall in order to install it because as of now, the skimmer won't fit with only 3" of space between the tank and wall.

I put dry rock from BRS (reefsaver and pukani) into my new 75 gal tank and the tank cycled nicely in about six weeks, with nitrates peaking at around 5ppm. I'd be surprised if the nitrates are coming from the BRS rock.

Maybe your Live rock is still experiencing some die-off. My LFS claims their live rock is cured, but it's not. The amount of die-off from just a few lbs is quite substantial. It's great for cycling a tank.

Like RM said, give it more time.

Wet live rock is just wet! They don't feed it with ammonia. It's fully cured but not beneficial!! That's what people don't understand! Your live rock depends on you, so how much you feed daily and your live stock! Make sense?

The more live stock you have and the more you feed your rock gets,,, "stronger"! More bio load more bb, but it takes some time for different bacteria to develop

Nitrates on dry rock depend on how much dead matter there is on or in the rock, every rock is different, so your cycle will differ from others.
