Which "colors" would be appealing???
Crude vid but fairly indicative..
No dimming, no channels.. just light.

Very interesting. I would consider purchasing one depending on the cost. Wish I had time to dig into it more.

Isn't a xr30 basically 2 xr15s?
Think they were referring to output..

360x is roughly the same as a XR15
Oddly though can "meter" at the AI Prime level
Not the same output class as the others IF I remember correctly.
2 xr15's are approx 180W..or 1 xr30

360x below:

Just for fun on Fri...no MH.. no LED

Do you have enough cord to solder and shrink a new cord on? Sockets are cheap - just get one made for the heat.

Well the pendents I’m getting have the cords cut. I assume to accommodate a different plug. I have a legitimate phobia of working with electronics. I ordered two replacement cords

It isn't difficult to do. Splicing power cables is usually pretty straight forward. We should be able to guide you through it. Post up pics once you have everything. That'll help for sure.

I have ati blue + and true actinic bulbs. Currently I have 4 actinic in the Giesemann Infiniti with 2 250 watt 17500 k Giesemann MEGACHROME. Would the recommendations be stick with 4 actinic or 2 blue +, 2 actinic? If mixing which order should I put them? I only run them when halides are off.

Blue+actinic is much more visually appealing to me than one or the other alone. I’d run one of each in the two banks for more even blending

Would you place them in which order? Blue +, actinic, actinic, blue+ or Actinic, blue +, blue +, actinic?

I am a dinosaur that still believes in MH as well..... in the begin when LED’s were not as powerful as they are today I was curious about the power utilization savings associated with LED’s. However, the newer LED’s seem to be using up to 190w per fixture when ran at 100%...I am aware that most fixtures probably will not be run at 100% but it seems that as technology advances the power Consumption of the LED’s seems to be increasing. This leads me to be less likely to convert to LED’s over my tried and true MH. I also like the fact the MH lights are set and forget....no need to adjust intensity and color. My thought is that if you are not able to change intensity and color then you are providing a more stable light source for the corals in your tank. I have nothing against LED’s and I am aware that a vast number of people have great success using them but I still love MH 20k Radium bulb paired with t12 VHO super actinic bulbs. I realized this is probably a controversial topic but after close to 20 years of reef keeping I am going to stick with what has worked for me.

Just wanted to chime in and say I’m grateful I found this thread. As a reefer who has gotten back into the hobby after 15 years the new lighting options didn’t float my boat. I’m currently building a 180 mostly sps system and have been vacillating on what lights to use. The whole hobby it seemed was agog over leds and I felt like I had to use them. I have now made up my mind. I’m going to blow the dust off my 72” mh fixture and be done with it[emoji16]
