P a t i e n c e. I think I've read every post, and it surprised me that patience was not mentioned. I'm never more disheartened than watching another person buy a fish or coral on impulse only to know what might become of it. I'm just as guilty, as patience is the most difficult part of the hobby to master.

And so I wait.

I think towels is my favorite answer!

As for RFA I liked them in my reef until they slowly moved into my acro branches, which several did, killing most the colonies they move into.

For powerheads my current pico tank is AIO and houses the rfa previously in the DT haha, but it doesn’t need PH and been running couple years with just the AIO return.

so back to towels and of course buckets

I always like having a battery operated transfer pump around. Really helpful for those situations where you need to move water but a siphon won’t work or isn’t practical.
Works like a champ for cleaning out the sump!

I think most of the justification for not having a par meter is
1. Corals will adapt just fine to lower light
2. Idk where you can rent them anymore - BRS stopped doing this and they will restock, but perhaps people aren't comfortable ponying up a 400 dollar deposit to check lights.

I'd say a rolling cart. Huge clutter saver and can store in a closet or out of the way.

A Grounding Probe!
Aquariums are an exercise in patience. I am at the waiting stage of my 1 year and 4 month old 190. I have some growth, but my rewards won't come for another 2-3 years. Maintain and take a monthly photograph to watch'm grow :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Don't forget self-control & personal discipline. Hardest part is not becoming a coral collector when you don't need anymore. I have to remind myself my trips to the LFS now are for maintenance requirements ONLY each time I go. Sure is fun to look though,
