Very good! What did you use for piping and did it have any additional insulation on those couple feet?

It was standard sched40 PVC at 2.5" I believe. There was some black foam insulation made to wrap around the pipe. It was thicker and more dense than the standard grey foam you typically see, not sure where it came from though.

My setup will be just like yours. But I'm building up a 6x6 storage unit up against the house, due to our weather. And for sure easy maintenance, lesser noise in the house, alot more space for systems. I love this idea and I'm going for it. Thanx yall

Late to thread FWIW my ole 55g was on the back porch. But three sides were the brick house sides. Does that count?

LOL

Maybe if you made the sump an in ground pond with shade, it could survive here in Texas. Not sure the ground temp during the summer or winter here. If I was back in Florida, I would consider putting my sump on a patio outside. Here in Texas, seems like a nightmare trying to keep the water cool in the summer or hot in the winter. Granted, it won't freeze due to the salt or if it does freeze, then your salinity will jump up.

Think you should change the title of the thread to Building Fish Room/Shed in Texas since that's more accurate seeing as how your sump will be indoors.

6x6?? That's it?!
Haha that's what I started at, after 3 additions I'm at 24x28. But I built it as a greenhouse and I live in Ohio. Now I am sick of heating and keeping it cool so I am in the process of shutting it down.
It's a good idea though since I am assuming that you do not have a basement

Ok so since I'm building a 400g plywood aquarium also for my room. This is what I came up with. So wish me luck with this project, and hopefully will be good to go. Thnx y'all for the support.
