I have purchased a few LE zoa's and some are really nice and some are overrated. I would like to hear which one's you guys feel are overrated. Maybe we can save each other some money.

Rastas they have great color but are tiny probably my biggest disappointment. You need a magnifying glass to enjoy them. LOL

Sour Apples they are nice and big but not all that bright.

What about you guys.

Joe

Rastas compared to joker palys, I dont think they are that small.

really rastas and mohawks?

Put your mohawks in higher light then, they can be really amazing.

Rastas are great, you just need to let them grow, or maybe your lights are flattering to them.

As far as disappointing, i would say all the awesome aussie ones that do great for 6 months, and then just wither away.

I have a few aussie that lost their color but thats what you get buying wild corals. I was a big sps guy and believe that those are the chances you take with wild corals.

As for the Rasts I have had them for 6 months under 250s just switched to ati powermodule. So i guess I will see. They are very colorful but I would have to point them out for someone to notice them. IMO way to small but different corals do differently in different tanks.

Keep them coming guys.

Yeah zoo's are all big in my tank. I have seen the same zoos that i have given friends and they are much smaller in their tanks.

Dirty Water

HAHA!

purple deaths are overrated, as far as i'm concerned. they're cool as far as being good eater and growers, but really boring.

tubbs blues are very slow growers for me, and rather disappointing in that aspect. i've had a frag for over 6 months, and i think it went from like 5 to 10.

people eaters are overrated to me, as well.

as far as rastas, i don't have any, but do understand about the growing. i've got two colonies of radiactive dragon's eyes (i love) mixed with whammin watermelons/eagle eyes (love the combo). one colony, for some reason unbeknownst to me why, a couple of the rde's tripled in size. they're approx 1/8 on one, and the other has a couple that are just shy of 1/2".

somebody shoot me some rastas, i'll try em :p

Really? Mine grow really fast. Just when I try to frag them, the frags die. All the other zoa frags I make do just fine, but those picky tubs!

I think most popular zoas are pretty awesome. I mean, that's why they're so popular right? I do think people charge too much for them though.

Man I love PD's! They are so purple in my tank and just really look great. PE's are the top of my list as well man! Where is the love! ;)

Oh I think DDB's are overrated...

everyone's tastes differ and corals will change and act different in different systems but I will admit I was disappointed with rastas size.

You know i think it's more nutrient that does it. I run skimmerless and my zoas are big. My acans, micros, and chalices are growing like crazy. I do run a refugium.
I would have to agree. I never used a skimmer to as of late (never had many fish till now) and all my zoas and rics grew like mad.

My biggest disappointment was the mohawks.
As JuniorMC8704 said, they just need the right lighting. Mine are probably one of my top favorites. All the Mohawks I have gotten shipped looked terrible as far as color for the first couple weeks but under strong MH they color up nicely. I have some more that are different colors that are coming around and will be getting pics soon. They are as bad as these guys, only different shades.
