Pacific Sun Kore 5th Doser Users Thread

Marquise

What has your experience been with the Kore 5th?
I have had mine for a year a so, bought used. Over this time I have experimented with both Windows and Mac interface. I have not yet tried Android.
I used to have it on two of my setups in the past. I bought new. I used the ultimate version with the AWC DC pumps. I didn’t have any issues with it. It did exactly what I purchased it to do. I will be getting another one soon. I will get their alkalinity monitor once it is released as well.

I had to get up at 4AM in order to hook up with Tomasz in Poland. He is the Kore 5th senior engineer. Using a sharing application, he worked my computer. Downloaded latest firmware, uploaded it to the Kore 5 and got the unit prepared for use. Now I'm in a pickle again. I used 10 ml of liquid to calibrate the pumps. Pump 1 hit 10 ml exactly. Pump 2 only pumped 9 ml. Pump 3 pumped 8 ml. Pump 4 pumped 5 ml and pump 5 pumped 5 ml.

How do I make adjustments or am I missing a step where I should have cleared something first?

I wasn't sure that I did after reading your comment. So, I went back and calibrated each pump and saved. Working like a charm now. Thanks for that reminder! Challenge for tomorrow is to set up ATO on pump 5.

One word of caution, before plugging in any new item turn doser off... I believe it is instructions, the doser is not like much of the equipment we use daily. It will screw up the doser if you plug in a new component while turned on... I know from firsthand experience. I spent time on the phone with Tomasz as well ;)

What version are you using Windows or Mac? (just curious)

Thanks for those great words of advice! I didn't see that in the instructions. They aren't the easiest to comprehend anyway. Sorry for your firsthand experience but you probably saved me from making a similar mistake! :)

OOPS! Reading back through your post I see I missed a question. My software version is 1.7.4 running on Windows PC

Just bought and set up ny Kore 5th. It has a 2017 build stamp on it. Gen 3 I believe? Anyway, here are my first impressions.

Beautiful build quality. Solid, with awesome cutout. I wanted to leave it outside my aquarium it looked so good, just not feasible. LED screen leaves some to be desired though. It has no buttons to look through any options. It simply gives you a status of each pump, the remaining fluid, and time. All control is otherwise done by the software. My other nitpick is the dosing heads. They're cheap plastic, and I've broken two small pieces that snap into the dosing body in an attempt to remove them. It didn't affect the use, annoying nonetheless.

Software is OK. I might be missing something but you can't set the times it doses as far as I can see, other than the initial start time. After the initial dose (in a 24 hour period) it schedules all the other doses for you. This is a problem as sometimes my Calcium and Alk come on at the same time. Definitely not desirable. Otherwise the software is pretty straight forward and easy to set up for a millenial like myself.

TL:DR Pros

-Great build quality
-Stylish
-5 dosing heads
-2 year warranty
-Insanely accurate

Cons

-Cheap plastic dosing heads
-Less refined software
-LED with no other features than a simple status display

Should you buy? I think so. I'll update in a week or so.

Quick update.

Dosing lines are NOT holding prime the way I'd expect. They are developing air pockets, not just bubbles over a days period. Hopefully this changes. My dosing wont be accurate if it doesn't.

Dosing line I used is 2mm x 4mm

Keep running dozer until air is out of line. If air continue hose is not tight on plastic end.

Each pump has individual settings. Offset start times so that each additive doses at different times.

Ie alk, 12:00. 12 doses
Calc 12:15 12 doses
Mag 12:30 12 doses

Thanks Ed. Offset makes sense. I'm not gifted cognitively :D I left town last night so I won't be home for a couple of days, but I ran about 50ml through each pump again and made sure all the bubbles in my dosing containers were shaken out. I'm hoping that fixed it.

Initially I would check parameters every day for a while to build up confidence. Also after recalibration.

I have had my issues with Kore 5th however once you are set and only make tweaks, for the most part it is a good doser.

Try not to switch back and forth with software platforms ie Mac/windows. I am very cautious when making any changes.

does anyone know where i can get tubing for the doser or what the OD and ID of the tubing?

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
Also... Only use for length, leaving doser. Use recommended tube that is inside plastic head units for the pumps. There are sites online that you can order those or order directly from Pacific Sun it is good to have extras on hand.
