Panic Time! Need Some help! Acropora Spreading Death.

Here's my thing about quarantine and trust. Do you know that guy they call polo reef? I'm gonna guess he's got a 100k in quarantine alone, and now has a swimming pool in his basement full of MEN and AEF. Do I think taking the time to quarantine could help? Absolutely,. Is it full proof? Not by a long shot. There's just way to many cases of people getting them even after extended quarantines.
As for the trust thing, I do trust my guys and if something happened I would feel a lot worse for them then I would for myself. I built this thing in a year and can replace it even quicker if I had to where they have decades poured into the game and livelihood could be at stake. Problem these days is people just aren't being honest. I've met Jason several times and by no means is this an assault on his character but since his name came up we'll use him. Do you think if JF woke up one morning to AEF he would make a psa on here and his website? Not a chance.
Agree 100 percent and great point. But to a new hobbiest who is learning the ropes the vendor should have something stated on site at least those charging premiums. Funny Jason gets mentioned as I have never found a pest on any of his stuff:) I think a lot of people are chucking in the towel early thinking it’s parameters etc from frustration thus hurting the hobby. But it could be as simple as qt and help eliminate some problems. It’s like fish :) I think as people learn we will see a lot of posts like in fish forums about pests just now we will have a coral page forums.

Here it is....snails too.

Very true.
We create our own problems don't we.

I brought up Jason fox because I saw a pod cast and he explained his procedures.
I see him twice a year at our shows cuz he is sorta local to us. Love his stuff.
I’ve seen him on YouTube showing and talking about his QT tanks and his tanks that hold his mother colonies, they are actually display tanks. Although I’ve never purchased from JF, I’d trust him. But I’d still cut off the base and dip it, just because.

I wonder what he considers a pest because the monti caps I got from him at a local show had tons of flatworms and vermetid snails on the underside of the montis. Obviously not the worst things to deal with but it makes you think what else gets past his quarantine. I don’t want to derail the thread but even these “reputable” vendors seem to have quality control issues when it comes to quarantine. Don’t risk it and quarantine.

Not on this end. Lights will come on in a few minutes. Tank still has the 6 little fish, shrimps and snails and a few rocks in it. I’ve always procrastinated in making big decision until I’m really sure, but once I decide it’s full throttle to get it done. Mike was great and up to the task.

Will have to wait till Mike chimes in to hear how he faired getting home and getting everything settled in. Pretty sure he’ll have a busy day today. There was a lot of stuff. I couldn’t help but smile last night at what he kept looking at. There was a lot of high end corals, but the one he focused on and kept talking about was my little Green Flash coral. It was quite bright green and yellow and a real fuzz ball. He really liked that one.

Mike, who's Mike?
Did I miss something?
Sounds like Mike came and took a bunch of stuff. He will dip and QT?

Sorry, it’s Reeferz1227. Pretty much took everything and yes, has the capability to quarantine everything including all the live rock. I’ll let him tell how he will make it all work. His football now.

Thanks for the update!
Enjoy the grandkids. (I think I read that here)

Lol. Posted the treatment somewhere in this thread.
That's fine and dandy. I was just wondering how he deals with it. Sometimes people tweak the regiment, it's good to get different perspectives on treatments.

Like for instance the Ivermectin debacle. Many people have done dips or in tank treatments, some have no problems and some have massive problems. It's good to keep the line of communication open on such things to help progress treatment.

The KCl is pretty gentle on them. Having to remove coral from rock and what not is what stresses them most I believe

I have to remove some larger colonies from my rocks soon. Been stressing over that as bone cutters will butcher them. I ordered this, and will use a metal blade, but also have a wire saw.

The newer aefw isn't like the older aefw. They can rtn a colony overnight and they lay eggs sporadically. It looks like rtn not round patches of bite marks. Not saying it's 100% what you have but it sure does look like them. The scope will tell the tale.
Do you know of any threads on these guys? Just want to keep myself updated!
