I'm sure he's leaning toward the Hopoocolor HPCS320 ($580 plus shipping), OHSP350 ($830 plus), or OHP350C ($700 plus) on Amazon. Funny, but none of them provide non-cartoon granularity.

I just can't see the utility that any hobbyist would get from something so high priced, much less something in the $3000+ range. Maybe something to show off when your reefing buddies come over? Then what? There are only a couple people in the hobby who do actual reef lighting research that has purpose.

With those prices, I'm fine being lazy and without a scope. I have too many electronic measuring devices as it is: O-scopes, RF spectrum analyzers, RF power meters, etc... They're all wasting away in the garage with the stack of old PC parts.

Are your coral growing? Are you happy with your reef color? That's all you need. Pick up the cheaper PARwise to map your tank to find the best place to put your new coral and tweak your lights. Reef on.

I have a PARwise and love it. Some users don't know there is a out of water mode and a in water mode. It will make a difference on the readings

One thing though that hasn't been asked.. does the "new" cloud restrictions on the Seneye (no temp if no slide) have any bearing on the parwise?

I'm happy to report that the PAR meter still works without a slide. I recently picked up a Parwise and have been comparing it with my Seneye and Neptune meters. Personally, I have been getting readings with each being within 1.4% of each other.

Still too cartoonish. And too expensive, but apparently better than that >$3,000 spectroscope. I'm still not seeing a single LED display.

An advantage over the Hopoocolor and UPRTEK, for sure. Maybe that's the reason the non-PARwise spectra in this thread don't match the PARwise?

On the app screen there's a picture of the par meter, when you click it, it either has a circle or no circle. With circle is under water

@crit21 Remember that the introduction of the other spectrometers were to challenge your position that cheap diodes don’t match their target spectrum. Your spectrometer is generally reading low below 470nm and high above. The conversation then went a bit bag of cats. Comparing the PARwise to real spectrometers is silly, but when the the PARwise comes home, I’ll reengage.
