Pete polyp's 29 mixed reef

I have noticed quite a difference since I have started doing water changes every 2 weeks again. The mushrooms and rics have the most polyp extension I have ever seen them have. The colors of my sps are returning back to the intense colors they once had which makes me happy. Everything is doing great! I have been looking at my hob overflow for the past 3 days and its probably a good time to go ahead and change the filter. I ended up removing the splash shield from my lights because I found out exactly how hot the fixture was getting. I'm sure this boosted the par a little bit too (like I really need more light anyways).

Here's a few cell phone pictures

Oh, yeah, I actually forgot about that lol. It seems to have had no bad effects on anything. Other than the Ph getting high it didn't change any parameters. I know it can take a while to see the effects of something like that, but for the time being I seemed to have dodged a bullet. I had just received an acro right before that happened and its coloring up real nice. I don't really think it would be coloring up if it had a very large impact. I can tell a difference every single day with the color, so its headed in the right direction. My guess would be that the kalk precipitated once it hit my existing CA and alk levels.

With switching back to instant ocean and more frequent water changes comes the algae. I didn't have to wipe the glass but once every couple weeks before a month ago. Now its getting to every couple days.... It would be nice if io was phosphate free, or if reef crystals would be more consistent. I guess I'll have to hit the tank with some aluminum oxide pretty soon.

Last night just before midnight I went through my night time feeding routine. I turned off the wp25, unplugged the hob and mixed up some coral frenzy. I went around the tank giving all the sps a nice little shot, and finally got to the frag rack. This is when I noticed I had an empty plug and I felt my heart sink. The missing frag was the pink lemonade that I had just received that morning! I get out the flashlight and start to search. I couldn't find it so then i started moving things around to look for it. After the 5 minute feed mode the wp25 kicks back on and I felt a very strong current so I went to push the feed again, that's when I noticed somehow I had switched modes. That must be the reason it came off the plug, the mode it was in was much stronger than what I normally use. I practically tore down 1/4 of the tank trying to find it. Eventually I did find it tucked away within the ridges of the rock that was under the frag rack. In this whole process I dropped 2 more frags that I had to fish out with tweezers, and I knocked 2 more frags off the plug. I'm pretty sure they will all be ok, I'm just glad to have recovered the pink lemonade!

Pete can't wait to meet up soon and get some frags and tear up some trout thinking about 2 weeks if all my plans go the way I have it planed :usa2:

It would be great to get out and catch some of those trout! I'll be asking around to find out where that honey hole is.

Yep find out what flys they r useing aswell so I can tie some up oh yea my wife is looking at ur tank close up she wants u to frag what she wants lol . I told her it don't work that way lol

I will ask around, but I don't know any fly fishers in the area. I'm going to guess trying a few different mayflies would be a good idea. Probably nymph would be good for this early in the year. I'll set you guys up nice with the frags! What you're going to able to get is going to depend on how the tank is going. We will start of with a few z/p and work your way up to the more demanding ones :)

Today I blasted the rocks off and there was bubbles everywhere! I figured I knew what had happened and it was nitrogen. I checked the nitrate and sure enough I came up with none. Guess I better start tossing food in left and right to bring it back up....
