I am getting ready to do this DIY style also. I am using the below strips, see the link below. you can daisy chain them all together based on how many you want to use. I think mine will end up mounting on strips across my canopy though.

We were looking at similar solutions, they mount to our lights super easy because of the T-track that's built in. But they definitely take away from the aesthetic if you don't run them in a canopy.

Yes agreed my 48” photon V2 sits on the edges of my canopy so it is about 2” above. maybe I’ll make a custom offset bracket to mount them off of the fixture which will make the strips below the top of the canopy? The tough part is it needs not to corrode from evaporating salt water and be strong and easily bendable.

my adventure will start in around a week. this is right in the living room so the boss says no ugliness lol!!

Please do! I would like to eventually use my Photon V2 in a hybrid fixture. Having all the parts and info in one spot will make it easier for people like me who are not all that awesome at DIY setups.

@maasman, did you not also need to buy the 24 inch end plates? I thought all the aquatic life fixtures used 18 inch end plates by default. Or do the decor endcaps include the end plates as well?

To do this setup would require the following for any size Photon v2.

2 of these (which is actually 4 brackets total)

Aquatic life specs
Dimensions - 48" L x 18" W x 1.5" H

Photon 48 specs
Each light measures 42.5″ x 8.5″ x 1″ tall

Photon 50 specs
Each Light Measures 47.5″ x 8.5″ x 1″ tall.

So the photon 50 wont fit with the aquatic life 48 inch ? I really dont want to get the 60 inch one my tank is only 48 inches long.

Unfortunately the Photon 50-V2 is just too long for the 48" Aquaticlife kit. The 24 is also a bit long for the 24" kit. These are both metric- 24" is 60cm, 48" is 120cm. Add the plug and it's going to interfere with the end cap unfortunately.

If you don't use the end caps it might work- we have one of these kits on the way and will work out the exact hardware you need to use these with your V2s.

How are you liking the setup still? Why was there a need to add t5 to begin with? I have been thinking of switching to leds, but I use no supplemental lighting with my halides and I love that. I don’t want to switch to led if I have to add t5 to prevent shadowing or get growth.
