Hello Everyone,
I know I haven't been on R2R for a while now but I have been pretty busy and my tank has a few problems.

Problem #1-
When I first started out I bought a cheap T5 light just to get me started and over time, it starred to slowly die and many of my corals began to stretch because they weren't getting enough light. I decided to upgrade and buy an ATI 4 bulb T5 fixture. I knew this fixture would be much brighter so I put it a lot higher over the tank and started off just running 2 bulbs. Even with my best efforts, my Euphylia began to bleach. I thought it might just be a short term problem and over time they would acclimate to the stronger light but they have gotten worse and now I am worried they won't get any color back. In this time, almost all of my other corals and anemone loved the new light (especially my zoas) and my montipora began to grow like crazy but I am starting to see some faint bleaching in my favorite monti and I am worried if will die. Is there anything I can do other than just raise the light? I have been running just 2 bulbs for a little while because I am worried what would happen if I ran all 4. Please help. Thank you

Problem #2-
I have been having an algae problem lately as well and I think it is because of the new light because this type of algae has never been in my tank before I added the light. I keep doing water changes and pulling the algae out of the tank but it comes like back. Any advice? I'll try to get pictures soon. Thank you!!

Hi Ray! Been a while.
I'll read up. You know we're going to want pictures :D

Zoas ans Euphelia dont mind "dirty water" so long as its not over 40ppm nitrates I would say. That said, given time to adjust, Euphelia will thrive in high light situations. I have several in my tank soaking up 200-300+ Par levels.

Green algae (you can see it in the frogspawn and hammer pics too)

I have found another problem too :(

My favorite leather is bent over like this and I think I see a tear in its tissue. Should I get s zip tie or something to hold it up? Thanks

Well, I have had my new light for months now and they are like I king worse and worse. I don't know if they will be able to adjust.

They are definitely nice, use them for Alk and Phosphate.

So far, what you have tested, your parameters are in check. I have a feeling your phosphate may be high.

Can you raise your lighting any higher?

Does your tank get any direct sunlight?

I can't raise it any higher and the light is already 6 or more inches above the tank. It does get direct sunlight but I keep my shades down most of the times do not a lot

Ok, just trying to understand the environment and options.

I would start by vacuuming any red/green algae on the sandbed one day. Then blow off your rock work and do a 20% water change the next day.

How long do you have your lights on for?
