Got my 1st tank when I was 13-14. Now in my 40's

25, been doing saltwater for 6 years now, regret none of it! Wish I started sooner.

I started when I was 9 yrs. I am going to be 49 in April. So, I’ve kept a few fish. Lol. I kept brain and bubble corals before we knew about lighting. I remember bleaching dead coral skeletons to keep them looking nice and white!! Lol.

Wow, made me think about it. Started as a birthday present for our (then) ten year old daughter. I kinda took over though.

Fresh water since high school but got my first 125 salt tank running last year! And I’m 47!

I'm curious what the average age and number of years people have been enjoying this amazing hobby? Is the hobby enjoyed more by the younger people......20yr - 30yrs or us older folk 40yrs on up?

Ive been running SW tanks off and on since 2001 and learn something new each and every day!!

I’m 37 years old and I’ve been in the hobby since I was in the third grade but I’ve only been into reef tanks for the past 6-7 years

I’m 63. Been keeping SW fish since ‘79. Been reefkeeping since the early 80s when the Georg Schmit article in FAMA came out. Anybody else remember that?

I started at 15 keeping "sea fish" but had kept freshwater for about 5 years before! Today I am in my 60's It started in an aquarium shop in Newcastle and saw my first "sea Water fish " in 150 gallon tanks. I was hooked, I have gone through so many tanks and ways of keeping sea water inhabitants, Today I am able to keep SPS LPS fish anemones all together. I have used Tunze to triton, I will continue until I go to the big aquarium in the sky ! I will always remember been told when I was 15 I MUST have ozone to keep these fish! how things have changed

39 years old and I’ve been in for over 20 years now. I’ve had everything from a 2.5gal to a 270gal over the years and normally more than one tank going at a time

Im 39 been reefing since 1999. Started with a 55 gallon with a under gravel filter. I still have a cabbage leather and flower anemone which were 2 of the first corals I ever bought. They have been in 9 different systems.

I started Reefing in 1990. I bought a used minimal 30 gallon system. A 55 gallon tank was added then moved to a 130. I had my first crash four years ago. It was ATO related while on vacation. I am running a 180 gallon display tank now and have kept the 130, put it in the garage and converted it into a refugium.
