Are they still in operation? I’ve ordered from them before and was happy with the condition of the fish when I received them. I did still run them through a full QT, but he had decent prices and some more rare stock. I checked the website recently and it didn’t look active....

i actually messaged them on facebook recently and they must have a lot more fish than they list on their website because he was listing off a bunch of fish he had in stock

Interesting thing to note, it seems liveaquaria is implying biota captive bred fish are disease free, does anyone have any info that can back this up? Also how does liveaquaria work with biota, are these fish that are picked up from the wholesaler where they are labeled as biota captive bred (which means they could contract diseases or parasites while being kept there) or does liveaquaria have a more direct relationship with them that could bypass the possibility of contracting something on the way to the hobbyist? https://m.liveaquaria.com/category/5142/

I’ve seen a few of the live-aquaria biota fish in the disease forums... I wouldn’t trust it, personally.

It's a real shame that there aren't more options for disease free purchases, even at a premium, I for one am looking forward to seeing humblefish expand his operation so that we can have a steady supply of healthy fish. I'm excited for the day that someone can just go to his website and have a fish sent the next day. I just wish something like that came sooner because it would have helped a lot.

TSM's standard quarantine includes the use of prazi (3 treatments) and copper (minimum of 30 days at therapeutic level). That being said, crypt and flukes are not the only parasites that show up on wild caught fish. Each order that is quarantined is treated on a case by case basis. Some fish receive additional treatments with formalin, chloroquine, fresh water dips, antibiotic baths, dewormers, etc. depending on what is detected on skin scrapes and gill clips. Happy to answer any other questions that you may have.

TSM is local to me here in philly and they bring in and QT all the fish for the local public aquarium too so I can’t imagine their practices are bad in any way....

Just want to clarify that while TSM may provide fish to the local aquarium, it is not by any means their exclusive supplier

I didn’t mean to imply that they were exclusive, just that their level of care is a higher standard than hobby shops. I’m patiently waiting for the new facility to open cause we just got a new 220G and I’m gonna need some nice fish and I’m just down the street :)
