Price increase on Ecotech and Aqua Iluminations....

Try owning a business and explaining to clients why you have to raise prices to long time lawn and landscape customers. I had one who dropped me for a $10 a month price increase. This after keeping their price the same for the last 4 years. Most of the general population has it engrained that because someone owns a business they must be rich. Very far from the truth.My advice is deal with it. We all have to and complaining makes you look like a Karen..

Electronics components costs are skyrocketting, assuming you can even get the parts you're looking for. Anything with a microcontroller in it will be going up. At work we have some customers paying 10x to 20x prices for processor chips.

This is just the beginning. Christmas is going to have some bare shelves because the prices are being driven up due to demand far outstripping the current supply. We have plenty of orders pushed out to 2022 already, and are even seeing some pushed to 2023. God help you if your design features a chip made by NXP, Micron, or ST Micro. Microchip/Atmel isn't doing TOO bad so far but we have seen some hiccups.

If their materials have gone up anwhere close to what ours have that 10% increase does not cover them. We have raised our prices 25% and are still selling at a lower margin.

looks like about $30-40 per depending on the model from what I can see on the Ecotech and the AI's. I haven't verified all but it looks like its pretty much across the board.
Kessil went up slightly.

Global supply problems aside reef lights are so absurdly over priced its unreal.

Remember that funny car commercial where a bunch of 8yr old girls design a sedan? The Radion was designed for reefers that live in their parents basement and want features that have nothing to do with growing coral. Mobius is one of the worst apps I've ever used.

Hopefully the price increase will introduce competitors.

Don't business owners know if prices go up more they will be out of business they have to cut there profit and stay afloat till inflation goes away middle of next year I hear.people will shop for cheaper products and get cheaper products because of economy And there situation on there jobs.

Seems that this is going the wrong way... No one is blaming local businesses.Thank you mpatient for the info on the container shortages and the global effect of this disaster which goes far beyond the virus as such.
The opening post was an observation made based on the times we are dealing with and to bring awareness to those on the market for a given item and where the market is leading so that we can plan accordingly .
Our's is a hobby and we are blessed and fortunate to be able to enjoy it despite these trying time for the world. Now go out and buy your stuff before it goes up again.

Yes the current stock all went up. Going to be waiting a little (I mean a lot) longer on upgrade. Or go with two of the new Noopsyche K7 V3.

I had a conversation with a sales rep for one of the well known aquarium companies we deal with and he was telling me how difficult it was to just get the product in. Nevermind the cost. I'll keep it really simple, I just built a wooden stand. I needed 2X4's. Last I did this they were $1.97 per 8 foot length. Now $8.47 for the same. As much as I hate to admit it, the increase is not that much but in the same sentence I will say that the cost of lights and some other items even prior to all this is just crazy. Supply and demand?

The only gripe I have with BRS these days is they pronounce Li-Cor wrong when discussing PAR meters in their videos.

Hmm lets see if what everyone in this thread says is true then why did the Philips Coral care just drop in price?
Now lets see We have a new Neptune light coming out which is more competition which should should have pushed the price down but it didn't.

Lets think about this for a minute and why they raised the price when a new product hits the market.
