problems with buckets

Yeah, I thought that might be the case. There have been numerous reports about this issue with DFS. As I stated above, I've been ordering from Salty Supply and haven't had any issues. The UPS guy wasn't happy that he had to carry the 50lbs + box up to my second floor apartment so he dropped it on the porch. Fortunately, it was double bubble wrapped in a box so it had some cushion. The other thing I checked was the age of the salt. The slip on the inside of the bucket indicated that it was manufactured of 5/17/16, so it was relatively new.

I have a local source that sells this so this isn't a problem for me luckily. I will say the quality of these buckets is not that of most other salt brands. It looks to be a thinner plastic, I can easily bend the plastic versus a IO bucket, Red Sea or any others you cannot bend the plastic. From comments above it looks like Salty supply is doing a better job packing. I hope overall Aquaforest chooses to invest more into the buckets to make them a thicker material like the IO buckets.

I agree with the buckets being super thin.

I was home when UPS brought the package and the driver looked at me and said

"tell whoever is sending these to use better material, this box is only rated for maybe 20lbs max."

As he picked up the box the bucket partially fell out of the box without the lid attached. Lol

Luckily the salt was solid and everything went back together with ease

I ordered three buckets back in April. All three buckets were damaged and the bag inside was compromised. The vendor sent three replacement buckets and they arrived damaged as well.

The buckets remind me of the Red Sea buckets where they can bust on the bottom if handled rough. I've never had one bust on me though.

I have never had a problem with the AF salt Buckets, but I have always ordered from Salty Supply. Probably on my 6th bucket and it has always been perfect. Will never get AF supplies from anywhere other than them and the shipping is always more reasonable. :)

Stormborn Reef is just a little north of Longwood. They have the whole Aquaforest line in stock.

The buckets are being mishandled, I have never had an issue either, as my salt arrives through shipping, comes from SS. I have been in contact with Sales people with Deepwater regarding the issue, seems this is happening from a specific re-seller, as I have heard. You can always contact Deepwater Aquatics and speak with someone there regarding the issue, they are great people and will do what they can to help :) Cheers!

Well this is disappointing DFS wants me to ship back the buckets for credit, I have had a monthly auto delivery of 1 x 200-gallon bucket of salt for the past two years. I was supposed to get a free bucket every twelfth bucket that never happened and now this. I guess I will end my relationship with DFS and Aquaforest. I wanted to send pics but that would not work, I can't imagine the freight cost makes any sense.

Aquaforest, no comment you seem to chime in on all the positive threads?

Salty Supply is the place to buy this salt. I got a bucket yesterday, arrived in a heavy duty box and the bucket completely wrapped in thick bubble wrap.

Ordered a bucket from amazon and came in with a broken lid and ripped bag, I can still use the salt though.
Just be careful as this salt is extremely hydroscopic and will clump up very quickly. I would get it in an airtight bag/container if I were you.

Anyone order from BRS? I just ordered 2 buckets do I will let u know how it turns out.

I just received an AF Reef Salt order from Amazon, which was shipped via FedEx. I looks like it was originally sent with just the bucket, since the bucket had the shipping info on it and the bucket looks like it was shipped through a war zone, scraped up and battered.

I assume there was some bucketastrophe mid way through shipping, so FedEx put the broken bucket leaking salt into a double bag and placed it into a box. Upon arrival the box was damaged, and so were the new (opaque) bags that the original mess was placed into.

It was almost comical, almost, looking at the state of the FedEx box sitting on my doorstep. I contacted Amazon and they just refunded my $$ without me having to figure out how to send the mess back, which I thought was pretty cool considering everything else which definitely was not cool.

I have received just the buckets before, and have never had an issue like this, but they are normally shipped to me via UPS.

I don't think this scenario had anything to do with the quality of the Aquaforest bucket. This was 100 % poor shipping practices.

BTW, the cat in the background isn't in kitty jail, we keep the litter box in the garage with an access catdoor from the house.

Ordered my first bucket from bulk reef supply recently. Came in heavy duty box, with 2 thick pieces of styrofoam on the bottom of the bucket and 1 over the top to hold it firmly in place, not even a scratch on the bucket however i havent opened it to check the salt inside yet.
