purple hornets?

This happened to MANY people. I was talking to a vendor a couple weeks ago that purchased "purple hornets" from AtoZ coral and got taken for a ride... I did as well a good while back. After arguing the fact over and over I just gave up on it and took the loss. He sold them as Purple Hornets on ebay and I must have had 10 or more people contact me about them saying that they got ripped off or sending me photos asking if they were real. Not one of them were... AtoZ is a new vendor, bad way to start.....

wow, well glad to hear the real story behind this. i figured all these "hornets" were grown by the guys over at NCRA and then fragged out to everyone, but i realize now its AtoZ that are the initial scammers in all of this. but like nicks mentioned, i just wish they would acknowledge that this whole thing was an epic fail, and try to save some face. the site really looked like it would have some promise, and i thought with all the bids and raffles and etc goin on, that it was gonna be a HUGE place for reefers to meet up.
man, i have to say once again i feel so lucky to have decided to join here when i did. i haven't been a member here for a fraction of the time that others have, but i have learned so so darn much, especially regarding where and how to spend my very hard earned money and not get screwed in the process. and like i said before, the whole hornet thing cost me less than twenty bucks so it's not the end of the world, but it's how many people went in on it so quickly, and how it all ended up. thx to all once again for all the info, and brent, if you readin this, i can't and won't hate on you cuz you seemed like a real genuine dude, i'm just sorry this whole situation ended up like this.

Good to hear Brent. The giveaway corals have all been great - coming from your tanks is a big plus. I'd still like to try and get another Yellow Jacket paly.. mine decided to close up about two weeks after I got it :squigglemouth:. Looking forward to some more marketplace updates.

minirex4777 and NCR please do not use the R2R forums to air your issues. I don't want to be rude, but NCR you run another forum, and minirex477 your an ex-sponsor. Both of which are welcome here, but without post that have to do with your companies. Post edited.

In this case you should send a refund to those that purchased them from you being that you "guaranteed" them to be true purple hornets. You know my paypal address, feel free to refund my nearly 300 dollars!!
I know that my post is off topic but then again I suppose its on topic considering what the thread turned into.

I think Gary at Reef Pets is a very nice guy.He was very nice to me although he had no luck coloring up The hornets he got from me.Jd at colorado coral is the other vendor of which he speaks and he sent me pics of his polyps a few days ago which ill post here for all to see.I think if more photos are shown it will prove my point even if all of them arent colored.the problem with this is that even if im right for gary or for Jd the wait far outreaches any dollar value and i apologize to both gary and jd for this mistake.I did offer to refund gary for his polyps and shipping and asked if he would send them back to me if i paid the shipping and i never heard back.I just asssumed he had decided to color them up or see for himself if i was full of hot air.I think jds pics raise more questions than answers although taken in the context of others pics ill show i think theyll all resemble each other.The funny thing is i totally get it.ive been on the other side of this coin for a long time and ive bought frags that looked nothing like the pictures and took a long time to color up in my tank..I realize how big of a problem i have on my hands convincing people of anything when i have people tell me that my fully colored polyps are blue hornets because the fluoresce blue from their faces.As far as i know A healthy purple hornet as well as a red hornet and for that matter a blue hornet will all glow blue in high light from a dark purple background when fully colored so im done trying to convince anyone of anything.People are going to believe what they can see.I get that.So all i can do is wait and hope that some of you hang in there and prove that what im saying is true before I check myself in to the looney bin.My guess is the day after I check in the colorecd pics will start flooding in.Its like the twilight zone for corals.doodoodoo doodoodoo .Gary the offer still stands .I know they where for you an investment and simply having them color up now does not mean they where a good buy so hit me up with an email and ill refund you the money but i have one request.that you hang on to a few polyps and id really love to see what yours look like now.im trying to post up some pics but having problems so they may not get up till tomorrow as its 2 am .I just want to thank Gary for all his patience and say that the corals i bought from reef pets where all wonderfully healthy and i think hes a great guy .I also have no quarrel with what hes saying and although im not sure what the reason for the slow progress i still am 100 percent sure that the polyps i sent are the same as my fully colred purple hornets. edited by revhtree

im a very slow typer so it took me a while to write this but yes gary before i saw your last reply those were my sentiments exactly.why didnt you take me up and my refund offer the first time?You didnt see it?I mean what i say i just wish i knew then what i know now about these polyps but still time will tell the tale.Over 100 members got frags so some one will prove they re real and real slow.

whoever got them, please post your pics. Fully colored or not...Now let's just wait and see what the results are, :tongue: that wasn't so hard. This way we know truely where the pics came from and nothing was doctored.

I never stated that you are not a nice guy, maybe it was n honest mistake. When it all comes down to it this is not personal, its business.
I will not get too deep into this because it was a good while back and it is what it is.... On the other hand, I could posts every email that you and I had between one another and show that a refund was not offered. If it was offered why would I have not taken it, I can get blue polyps all day long.... Your offer was to send me more that were in a little different stage of coloring up. You sent me photo after photo showing me the polyps at different stages and over and over I stated that they were not coloring up and that they never would. We emailed back and forth to the point that it was not worth the time that I was spending to get it figured out.
When I received the polyps I stated they were not purple hornets and we agreed that if they did not change in 3 weeks that you would send a refund. I told you 3 weeks later that they had not changed and you continued sending photos and stating that they would change.
I dont think I ever bothered sending this photo because like I said, I was done with it and I was just turning my wheels as that point. But, being that others got caught up in the mess I figured that I should confirm it. Here is the "three week" photo. As you guys can see, the top middle photo is a frag of my real purple hornets and the two on the bottom is what I received.
I am not trying to run anyone into the ground!! But, MANY people were mislead by these so called purple hornets and some of us even lost money.
Here is the photo, you be the judge....

i have 1 polyp purple hornet that closed up for a looong time...when it opened up its just faded purple and faded yellow green skirt no more colored yellow green ring....it took about 3-4 weeks for it to fully colored up....just an info...i will try to find a pic i think i took a few pics....
