QT Fish Dying

No don't ditch anything as of yet run carbon make sure all the Cu is out. Since you have a hanna checker I would wait a few days then retry copper treatment and make sure levels don't exceed the aforementioned acceptable levels. I think the big water change should help also run. Also run carbon.
It's like you are starting over with Cooper treatments but this time you are more informed. Did you order the chelated copper or are you sticking with cupramine?

Already ordered chelated copper.

I thought the copper from my current QT wouldn't leave my filter / sand / air stone regardless of what I did.

If you find CP I would highly suggest this. You can't use it with every species and you need to check the chart. But Chloroquine Phosphate is the easiest and most trouble free treatment method I have ever used. It has saved the lives of countless fish. Truly a miracle drug and sometimes we need all the help we can get.

Where do you get Chloroquine Phosphate?
It is recommended that you get a RX from a vet. Then purchase from a reliable seller that requires the RX to sell it. Link below to the post @Humblefish explains where/how to get. There are also sources for CP on eBay, but not recommended due to the fact that the purity of the CP from them is unknown. So no way to know what dosage to use. Certain fish like wrasse, anthias, and Blue hippos don't do well in CP to name a few.

Wanted to give this thread an update.

Getting back from work, I found the Hoeven's wrasse has died. My QT is now done... From the helpful folks in this thread, I'm lead to believe the issue was using Ionic Copper (Seachem Cupramine) and its effect on Wrasse's and certain types of Angelfish. That said, here's my gameplan going forward:
  • I have ordered:
    • Chelated Copper
    • Hannah test kit
    • New sponge filters
  • I will be doing:
    • Putting the sponge filters in my DT sump to cycle
    • Breakdown and dry the QT
    • Remove sand permanently and replace with new sand for my next attempt at QT'ing wrasses that need to burrow
At the end of the day, this was my fault. I had great success using Cupramine with my (Clowns, randalls goby, blue spotted jawfish, flame angel, coral beauty, midas blenny), but with these fish even after 2+ weeks in QT doing great, they may have succumbed to my ignorance. I'll take this is a hard earned lesson and do my best to prevent this from happening in the future.

Sorry for your loss. I've been in your shoes. It is discouraging to lose an entire batch of fish. Especially when you are trying to do the right thing and treat them in QT to maintian a disease free DT.

I think you will like the Hanna/Copper Power combo!

I am very sorry for your loss. Keep your head up. You are doing the right thing with QT. Better to QT and not have an outbreak.

I was reading a thread on Chelated Cooper and Ionic Cooper. I gotta find it ont he forums here. Someone added a link on the effect of
Cooper treatments with Fish Ionic Copper seemed to be a tad rough on Certain Fish. have a look at the chart below. I found the on the R2R forums maybe someone knows where the article is located. As you can see Cooper treatment on Wrasses was rough using Ionic Cooper such as Cupramine. Angels did better with Chelated Cooper treatment such as Cooper Safe or Cooper Power. Wrasses should not be treated with CP at all I am guessing they die. I would also check the therapeutic levels of Cupramine.
