Question for you clown experts

In the past when my clowns laid eggs, they never appeared fat like that. They were just what I would call "robust". I would agree with the pea suggestion and honestly you could also do the epsom salt as well. Neither of these will hurt a thing and may actually help as well.

What would you think it is @melypr1985? Is it because i feed heavy and sometimes once a day. Like the past 3 days ive fed every day.

I wouldn't think that's from food. Typically (from what I've seen with my own fish) even with a very heavy meal, the bloated belly will go back down after a few hours or at least the next day it will be back to normal. So it could be a blockage in the gut, swelling of some sort, egg bound. I think we just need to give her a couple days to find out. The pea and the epsom salt are both things that you can do in the mean time to see if they help. They certainly wont hurt.

Sounds good. So cooked peas, somehow get the mush out, amd what's the Epsom salt dosage?

Epsom Salt: Treats eye and other injuries. Popeye in one eye usually means injury, but popeye in both eyes usually denotes a bacterial infection requiring antibiotic treatment. Cloudy eye can be a bacterial infection or flukes.

How To Treat - 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons of aquarium water. Repeat only once, if necessary. Use only “USP” grade Epsom salt.

Pros - Reef safe, as Epsom salt is just magnesium sulfate.

Cons/Side Effects - The effects of excessive sulfate in a reef aquarium are not fully known.

How do you get them out?

I honestly dont know. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here though. Give it some time and try the peas and salt first. Don't freak out until we know for sure that's the problem. Well, dont freak out then either, if that happens we'll figure it out.

Ok. Well what my plan is, is to have a plan. So would like to know what i could do for her if the Epsom salt and peas don't work. How many feedings do you think i should do with peas?

I've only done the pea thing once and I only had to feed it once. It worked fast for this particular fish, so I think @Humblefish would be the best one to answer that.

Assuming she's egg bound, this is the only way I know of dealing with that:

But I would try dosing Epsom salt (1 tablespoon per 5 gallons) and feeding peeled boiled peas first. Hope it's just constipation. o_O

This is my female Picasso when they were putting down huge clutches. If I remember correctly this was the day before she laid. They laid every 8 days like clock work. They do get swollen bellies and I see it in some of my other clowns when they are holding and lay just fine. However I've never seen a female with a belly that large when they first start laying, doesn't mean it's impossible just not in my expierence. You would have seen them cleaning the same spot pretty much constantly and also you would see them taking practice runs over that area, as if they were laying. I've seen this in another thread and it turned out to be an intestinal issue. I don't remember the out come. I've also seen this with younger clowns when they eat floating foods and ingest air. They will usually expel the air in a few hours.

Id feel horrible if i had to do that! I love my fish but if it's going to kill them in the long run, it might be a necessity. As much as i dont want to do it
