Rare Corals/Corals Absent from the Hobby

I've asked around a bunch on this one. Various opinions on what it is. it's my favorite piece in my tank. Its done a decent job at growing and has plating buds coming from the back.

I've only been doing this 8 months so im not very knowledgeable as to whats out there or not but ive definitely done my share of research for corals to buy...

need a white pic, think turbinaria,cup coral, poss H stunner ?...

I got that far but the actual species is what I can't figure out. There's a few different kinds. Maybe Reniformis? But it doesn't look exactly like that. It had a cut stem on the back at the apex of the "cone"

Definitely not Hollywood Stunner. I have a large one of that. This is maybe 5 to 7 times thicker. I thinks it's a kind of Turbinaria but not sure what kind.

Although not corals, I've been searching for Gigantea anemones for the last 2+ years - they are truly unicorns. I ended up on with another Haddoni ~3 months ago, thinking (more like hoping) that it was a gig. Now I know what to look for but again, still nearly impossible to find a healthy specimen. Something like these but always "sold-out".

Reniformis is yellow, so it wouldn't be that. My guess would be mesenterina.

It never ceases to amaze me with the knowledge there is to be had in this hobby. That's amazing. You have my thanks.

This rainbow pavona is probably the rarest coral I have in my tank. I have never seen anything like it before. I’ve been amazed by both its growth form and the addition of new colors as it grows. Gold, with splotches of purple, blue, teal, green, orange and red. Super bright and the hairy polyps sway in the current.

I had a Australogyra zelli perhaps 20 years ago have only seen it once since and it looks much better than in these pictures

Most Red Sea soft corals honestly. I’m a big fan of softies and there’s so many that just don’t come into the hobby. Like, I would LOVE a frag of Rhytisma fulvum.

I have no luck with those. I’ve had a few of them, but they just won’t open for me same as goni’s I can’t get them to open either

Same man had trouble with the plate and still do with goni's. I can grow about anything else but cant figure those out.

I had an orange branching Psammacora that did great in my tank years ago before I broke it down. I guess Acanthophyllia would be rare in most places but not here. I just bought one today but havent put it in my tank yet. Heres a pic of the one I bought.

That looks more like Psammocora or Cycloseris wellsi/explanulata than Pavona.

You are correct! It was sold to me as a psammacora. Much different looking than the Kelly green psammacora next to it. Crazy to think that I bought this in 2014.
