Hey guys, so I recently added my first tester corals to my build. I was taking a look at the acros today and noticed red bugs. ***. Anyway, I did not dip, and I’m ashamed to admit that, but I’m going to rectify it first thing tomorrow morning with bioadvanced complete insect killer.
My question is: with 4 tiny acro frags (bugs only on two), will one dip be sufficient? Should I dip again in the following days? And last but not least, do you have any other advice?
Thanks a ton, I appreciate any help.
Sincerely, someone who will never trust anyone to provide pest free coral again.

Here’s a couple pics I just snapped to confirm. Sorry I’m advance, these are RAW images, unprocessed downloaded to my phone via WiFi from the camera, so they look kind of horrible lol.

Yep you got yerself a herd of red bugs there... Bio Advance/Bayer will not kill red bugs. You need Interceptor or Dr.G's dip, or more specifically the active ingredient which is Milbemycin Oxime. You'll need a prescription from a vet to order it, or check with local reefers to see if anyone has some you can get. Good luck with it.

Really, wow I swear I’ve read it kills red bugs

No it will not. It may knock some back, but the only cure is Milbemycin Oxime. Fortunately unlike Bayer, it can be dosed in the DT. It will kill off your pods and possibly crabs and shrimp so remove them before dosing and restock pods after treatment.

Are the beef flavored tablets ok to use or do I need to source pure Milbemycin Oxime

100% agree with @SawCJack00
All of my corals now get interceptor bath for 24 hours a couple hours after they arrive.

I also do the 24 hr Interceptor bath when I get new pieces in. It takes care of white bugs and black bugs too.

Yes it kills red bugs. I've been using bayer for over 5 years and I can assure you. It completely kills red bugs. Doesn't hurt to go past 10 minutes on diptime either. I'm not to sure about the other product your speaking with but if the frags hadn't been in to long, just go with 2 or 3 dips through the week and you should be fine.

I'm glad it has worked for you, but there are many many more people that is has not worked for, and they've ended up having to use Interceptor on the entire DT. Milbemycin Oxime is the only absolute way to make sure they are taken care of. It also takes care of white bugs and black bugs which Bayer absolutely will not.

+1 I would always go with a proven solution over something that worked for someone
Statistically, I'll always be the one it doesn't work for so tried and true is what I go with

You can say the same about every dip.

I use interceptor as a prophylactic every 6 to 8 months.

Bayer kills red bugs, the op added his first tester corals, I doubt red bugs long term would be an issue if he got to dipping them now. Otherwise you'll have to order the chews from Canada for 30 dollars each or head to a local vet for something not necessary
