+1 I would always go with a proven solution over something that worked for someone
Statistically, I'll always be the one it doesn't work for so tried and true is what I go with

You can say the same about every dip.

I use interceptor as a prophylactic every 6 to 8 months.

Bayer kills red bugs
True, except for Dr G's which has Milbemycin Oxime. Interceptor is specific to crustaceans so it's not a cure all. Personally I do a 24 our Inceptor bath, then a 7 minute Potassium Chloride dip. Bayer also will not kill AEFW. Potassium Chloride will.

Can you provide some insight on kcl dipping?
probablt asking a lot, but it would help a ton for dosage and procedure on that and interceptor. Thanks a ton

Potassium chloride is alright, I find it's super harsh on the acropora. It also kills red bugs near instantly

Prazi melafix and or revive is probably the best for the flatworms

I use a dip of 2 Tbsp per gallon of tank water. Mix it well and dip for 7 minute. It is a fairly harsh dip and you corals will slime, but I have not lost anything due to dipping. I've also used pond Melafix as a dip and that has worked well, but Potassium Chloride does the best job of anything I've used. Do not leave frags in it too long though as there is not much room for error with it.

Regardless op. Red bugs are pretty harmless. Just dip the corals a few times and you should be fine.

If you had a full sps reef, would be a wise decision to go down the interceptor route but if you don't have it on hand, it's almost not worth the effort to go looking for it. Just cause of a few tester frags

Kind of my thoughts. I have a buddy who is in vet school. And a localish vet was once upon a time the vet for our aquarium here. I’ll probably try to source some either way.

Wish it was that easy for me. The vets out by me just don't want to help. Including my dogs vet sorta wanted nothing to do with it but. You can order it safely from Canada, just cost double the money.

Fortunately there's a vet in my area that prescribes it for me.

I'm glad it has worked for you, but there are many many more people that is has not worked for, and they've ended up having to use Interceptor on the entire DT. Milbemycin Oxime is the only absolute way to make sure they are taken care of. It also takes care of white bugs and black bugs which Bayer absolutely will not.
which type of black bugs any good pics ?

Ok guys so here’s the deal. I did a 15 minute dip in Bioadvanced. 1.6 cups to 1 gallon of SW. Basted while in solution and again in the first rinse container. I then inspected the frags using a flash light and a lense while in the second rinse container. Then emptied that and rinsed them in fresh tank water. Within FIVE minutes of going back into the tank, I literally watched two red bugs crawl out of corallites on the most infected frag. The other ones look clean thus far. So anyway, unless I did something wrong, here’s your proof that Bayer/Bioadvanced is not 100%

These are pictures of the screen on my cam. Sorry:

I had the same issue. We have 3 dogs that costs us at least 1k year for normal vet care. 1 of these dogs is receiving chemo therapy and radiation for single cell carcinoma. This treatment costs us a couple Sunday driver frags a month (frags available soon btw) and both vets said they couldn’t prescribe me interceptor for corals. I was telling this story to a customer of mine that happens to be a vet and she went irritate. She said corals are animals and should be given the same care as any other animal. She gave me authorization right then.

Hey guys, so I recently added my first tester corals to my build. I was taking a look at the acros today and noticed red bugs. ***. Anyway, I did not dip, and I’m ashamed to admit that, but I’m going to rectify it first thing tomorrow morning with bioadvanced complete insect killer.
My question is: with 4 tiny acro frags (bugs only on two), will one dip be sufficient? Should I dip again in the following days? And last but not least, do you have any other advice?
Thanks a ton, I appreciate any help.
Sincerely, someone who will never trust anyone to provide pest free coral again.
@UnderseaOddities Didn't you tell me something about red bugs?

@Jilly92 yup why I got my little 120x loupe to inspect pieces after dip(tissue, irregularities, blemishes, discoloration, tears, bulging tissue I usually dip in coral rx an iodine(redbugs usually are endemic to smooth skin acropora sp from Australia for red bugs interceptor or (milbemycin oxime) works best crush one pill one pill equals 6 sailfert spoons(add one spoonful per cup of tank water)put coral in solution and wait an hour to an hour and 20 mins for bigger pieces.then inspect piece with 120x and blast slime and redbug remains off the piece with a turkey baster, then have a separate cup ready and re dip the piece in fresh tank water add 1ml lugol iodine then redrip and re add piece to display or coral qt tank if u have one, keep inspecting daily if infestation happens get a pipefish(some people treat whole display but I wouldn't try this or buy into your better off dipping individual pieces you'll never know how finicky a certain piece or piece will react to interceptor, then keep inspecting piece and dosing iodine weekly if piece starts to bleach or peel dip in revive before it's too late

I added 1 large dog pill (23mg) for to 800mls of RO for a dip

So I add 25mls of the dip to a 2 gallon qt tank for 24 hours
so 1 large dog pill mixed to 800 mls , is like storage, and then you take 25 mL, of this to 2 gallons of salt water for the actual dip
