Red Sea Salt Mix

For how much? I bet you could easily get 2 175 gallon buckets from this website for cheaper than AC sells the 200 gallon bags. Good to know that RS does sell 200 gallon bags though...

also im starting to wonder if theres somehow a difference between the bags and buckets. ive just gotten the big bags and small bags from them and some of you guys testing with bucket salt are getting lower calc than i remember in my testing. my tests was around 8dkh 420calc at 35ppt

My test results are out of the bag....

Hmmmmm. Makes me think that I will test every new bag or bucket that I crack open just to be on the safe side.

I'm not in TN, I'm in KY just south of Cincinnati OH. :) I ordered a bucket of Red Sea to try, I have Red Sea Pro test kits, so as soon as I mix a first batch, sometime next week, I'll post the results.

Good point Gmoney. Goes back to the topic of just keeping things consistent in ones tank. Find what works for ya and go with it!

Hi I use Red Sea coral pro and have done for just over 3 years, usually mixes up around 8 dkh but i usually have to use a Kh + ph buffer once a week to keep my tank around 9dkh, it drops ruffly 1dkh per week. I noticed a few tips on my blue tip acropora tenius going white, tested my Kh and found it was up at 10 dkh, could Kh burn be responsible?

could be yea adding a dose of alk all at once like that causes to much of a swing at once. usually burnt tips in sps are related to high alk and carbon dosing such as vodka/vinegar or biopellets. are you using any of those methods? if so you want to keeo you alk around 8

Hi, no I don't use any of those methods, would it b best not to dose Kh+ and just keep up with the weekly water change. I have been running a new Led light for about 2 months and have just reduced the power rate from 75% to 40 as I thought that was possibly the cause?

could be the light bleaching but its best to keep alk stable. swings can cause problems from death to just no growth or color.

preferably you want to dose something like 2part with dosing pumps multiple times a day or kalkwasser in an ato to dose slow and all day long to keep stable.

Thanks, I do have a home made dose'r that ruffly drips around 1 drop per second, the increase up to 10 dkh was over a period of 3 days, though will look in to a proper dosing pump. Thanks for your input, very much appreciate. :)

Hi Folks, as mentioned before I use Red Sea coral pro, and am due to purchase some more however just curious if You's have experience with the KENT reef salt, supposed to have elevated levels of calcium magnesium and strotium and other elements compared to natural sea water, liquid strontium and molybdenum is also supplied with it free from my Lfs. Do u think this would be better for a nano reef tank as I tend to find the levels slightly low in the Red Sea salt?? Was going to start a new thread but You's seem to know a lot about the Red Sea salt here!
