Reduck's Cad SAIO 75g build

It takes some time to get it set just right but when it is mine runs well. It is super sensitive to water level changes. It does pull out some major gunk.

Yep. Super sensitive to level. It does work great once it's dialed in.

Ok, just got word the painters want me to move the tank Saturday night. This ain't going to be fun...at all. But, they are trying to get done before thanksgiving so I can understand that.
Wish me luck!

Better late than never. Painters finished the other rooms last weekend and wanted to let us enjoy thanksgiving in a semi normal fashion. So they saved the living room for tomorrow. I moved the tank in about an hour to its temp position in the kitchen/dining room area.
Here's how I did it if you are curious.
Shut down everything but lighting so I could see what I was doing.
Drained about 30g from dt side. Drained about 20g from sump side.
Drained another 20 from dt side leaving about 6" for the fish to swim in.
Removed ato tank from stand. Slid entire assembly very slowly to its temp home by pushing at the base of the stand. Pumped water back in through socks. Fired it all back up.
Here it sits till its room is painted. Hopefully this ordeal will come to a rest by Sunday!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

And that's where the tank will remain. Seems like everyone that saw it there thought it looked better!
So over the holiday, the skimmer was going south. Cad sent a new pump but after much research I found that the Bubble Magus G5 would nearly fit. So I ordered one. I had to shave about 5mm off the base mounting flanges, but I got it to fit. Also needed a riser for it so I took the cad skimmer base off and used that. The BM started skimming yuk pretty quick. It adjusts easily and has a big cup. I ordered a proper acrylic stand for it that is adjustable so I can get it up another inch. My intention now is to add a skimmate locker and drain hose to round out this system. Also considering an automatic neck cleaner.
Since my rogue shrimp are gone I added some additional coral. Nice brain and a bicolor montipora.
I'll add some pics later today as the lights come up.

House painting is complete. Woohoo!

All hail white vinegar!
I've been so busy with other projects and life that I've neglected to clean the mp wet sides for months. All built up with coralline and calcium. Just ugly dirty. Soaked them overnight in straight up distilled white vinegar. This morning I took a toothbrush to them and a good rinsing and they are sparkling clean, like new.
All hail white vinegar!

Hope everyone had a great Xmas filled with great joy and peace.
And your tanks are happy too!
Happy New Year as well.

Been very busy with family stuff so tank is on autopilot for now....

Been a while but glad to see your tank is doing well. The move sounded nasty but at least it's behind you. Looking forward to some nice tank shots.

Some new additions!

That hammer (?) is a stunning piece. I have a similar one that is doing well.

Its a purple tipped branching frogspawn! That shot was an hour after acclimation. Its HUGE now.

It's been a bit since I updated. Been very busy between work and home. Lots of stuff going on.

Added a pair of cardinals last week. They seem happy. One is a great eater, the other, not so much. Been alternating between mysis and brine shrimp, along with pellets to keep him happy and full.

Meanwhile on the hardware front, I've added a skimmate collector. With the additional bioload comes more waste. It's one less yucky chore to do a few times a week now. I'll probably have to empty the collector once a month. Also in the process of adding a swabbie. That's being particularly difficult. I just sent it back to Avast to see if Dan can figure out what I'm doing wrong. It's quite noisy. Dan provides insanely great support for his products and assured me he will figure out why it's so noisy.

This weekend (today) post WC we will go visit @hcker99 at Ultimate and see what we will add next. I'm still thinking sticks, but when the Mrs goes along anything is possible! Pictures will come tomorrow after our visit!

Here's a short video to hold you over till tomorrow!

Sorry for the delay. This will have to hold you all over for a while. My dad passed away on Saturday night so we are busy with funeral arrangements and family matters. Came away from Ultimate with a few new pieces.
See if you can pick them out?

So sorry to hear about your father. That is really sad news. My thoughts are with you and your family.
