Reef Build 2013

I'm a fan of marco base rock, and not to mention the customer service is great, and free shipping, I've heard people say that it raised their phos levels but I drop it in the tank at star up so I'm not too worried about that.

Supposedly reefrocks.net gets their stuff from the exact same mine. I payed $100 for 50 lbs of rock and 40 lbs of sand shipped. My last order was fine. Just issues with this one.

Still no update on if the rocks shipped or not today. However, the guys over at FishNeedIt were able to sell me just a 24" light fixture body (for dirt cheap) and all I have to do is swap over the internals. Way better than having to buy a new 24" fixture, especially when the 30" fixture I have is only 5 months old. Working out with the wife how I will be hanging the light fixture, she does not want it hung from the ceiling so I am playing with ways to hang it from the wall. Ideas are greatly appreciated.

To get my mind off of the waiting I have been thinking about the fish I want. Having a hard time with this. I like lots of color and I like fish with personality. I had originally wanted a six line but a seeing so many people having trouble with them on here lately I have changed my mind. I have been browsing live aquaria and just cant decide. I would love to here some suggestions from everyone. Keep in mind this tank will be lps dominated with some softies.

I have a Midas and a yellow watchman in my 110 gallon and they avoid each other. But my Midas can be kind of a jerk he has bit on my arm while writing in the tank. There still could be potential issues in a smaller setup. They have made their spots on opposite sides of the tank.

So when I started this build I wanted the ultra clean rimless look. With that said, I knew I did not want a light fixture on legs sitting on the edges of my tank. I began researching ways to hang my fixture. The wife sure down hanging from the ceiling instantly. I considered building one out of conduit, also shut down. So I dove into the internet to find other ways. I came across a thread where someone used a shelf bracket instead. The wife finally got interested enough to try. I picked up two 16" shelf brackets from hd yesterday. I have been playing around this evening to see how I think out will work out. Here are some pictures. Input is appreciated!

Looks good. Lowes has a nice selection of different nice looking shelve brackets like that ti choose from that look nice and stylish. Ive thought about doing that for my qt light.

The lowes in cookeville certainly does not lol. I had a really hard time finding 16" brackets. They have to be 16" because of tank depth.

Looks good man!

I have something very similar for my fixture on my QT, and was wanting to do the same for my DT. I have a friend that is an amazing welder, I just need to figure out the dimensions and have him do it. Those look like they will work perfectly.

Good idea on the light hangers. Can they also double as a shelf for you to put some decorations or supplies on?

They certainly can. I just did this as a mock up last night to acquire the wifes approval. The only thing on the shelf is I will have to drill holes for my mounting hardware to lay into the shelf. Will take pictures for everyone once I start.
