If you provide direct-sun lighting levels at the water surface - like in nature - your corals should be fine. Corals grow down to 160 meters with light like this in the wild.
This may be easier to gauge with a handheld lux meter (roughly 30,000-100,000 lux), but a PAR meter should work too if you have one. (This may be significantly less accurate, no matter which meter you have, if you're running you're lights in a way that they look a lot different than typical 14kK or 20kK lighting.)

Took me a little while (several days when I got the chance), but I finally made it through all of the posts. I have 2 of LUMENTEK 180s over my 75g. While I'm having some of the same issues as described on earlier pages - clock running fast on both units, etc., I would say these lights have been very nice. Definitely a great light for the price point. My real only complaint at this time would be the setup process. Would be great if there was a way to wireless connect to your computer, tablet or smartphone to program the units. Programming 2 units with the 30 min interval is tedious enough, I'd really hate to switch over to the 10 minute interval...
That said, my plan was to move the 180s over to my 120g once I got it setup. However after reading all of the posts, it would be awesome if Rick would allow me to trade my 2 180s in for the LUMENTEK Fusion 360 - with an exchange fee of course...

I have the Lumentek 120's and both of them have the issue with the clock running fast. Though one is faster then the other. I thought this was one of the issues that was supposed to be fixed with the new controller?

I am sad say that we are not going to be selling the LUMENTEK PRO line of lights anymore. The factory notified us of a price increase at the end of July and we have been working with them to see if there was a way to prevent this. Their reasons were legitimate - there was a mandated wage increase in China earlier this year and with the economy rebounding - their material costs increased significantly. Our contract - with fixed pricing - ended on August first and frankly we don't make a large enough margin on this series to absorb this increase. Our business plan has always to sell great lights at great prices - an alternative to the companies that charge what I believe to be very high prices for what you get. We have created several new lights that we will be rolling out at Macna later this month that will be programmable and very aggressively priced - so watch for our MACNA forum sale here from August 29th - August 31st. Of course we will ship out any remaining orders and will service all LUMENTEK lights already sold.

Wow that's a bummer. Dam economy rebounding. Glad I got mine when I did. I would wonder if resale value would jump up, but then I would be out a couple of nice lights. This could be interesting though. I'm sure rick will get creative with something. (Cue jeopardy theme)

Hi to my fellow Reef Radiance owners. I have two Evergrow IT2040's on my Marineland 93 cube 29.9 x 29.9 x 24.9. I have been playing with the lighting %. I am just curious what the other reefers out there that own the IT2040's have there % at. Thanks all!

Firstly we are working with the LUMENTEK factory to finish up the current controller model and will release it just as soon as it is perfect. Secondly - we are about to roll out a new light that one of your very own reviewer testers from R2R - you all know ***** of course - he has in his possession and is working on the final pre-release version. This will be a game changer - and will really allow the average hobbyist to step up to the quality and features of a fully programmable light for about the cost of..... well........ you will see soon. We are going to roll this out at Macna and will have a MACNA sale on August 29-31st here on R2R.

So, not alot of PAR readings out there so I FINALLY got ahold of our club par meter. Lets just say, I had it dialed back alot more than I thought.
up until last night, I had it maxing out at 50% blue, 30% white. on my tank. when I stuck the par meter in I was shocked to find readings of 50 or less on the bottom glass. UHHH>>> thats not enough. NO wonder one of my BTA took a hike and both lost the bubbles they were forming. Maybe this is why the Acans were retracted as well. I know the lighter colored one was used to being up high in at least the 200-250 range from my DIY leds.
Ok. now lets see what this baby can do. I didnt max it out but instead tuned it to where I feel I wanted the par levels to be starting at the bottom. keep in mind, this is a mixed reef so I dont want to completely blast the bottom. 150 was what I wanted at the bottom. strong enough for most anything. This was achieved with at 85% blue and 50 % white per the PAR meter. Ok. thats a start. but what about the 5 off for the blues? I ended up dialing it back just a bit and for now, I have settled on a 70% blue, 40% white mixture and feel pretty good. Wow its bright. But, it seems to be as bright as my old tank was, so that is a good thing. I really did seem dim to me. I also made a bit of a map for you guys to see. The tank is 20" tall. 24" deep and 32" wide. LIght hangs dead center about 12" of the surface. I have zero spot lighting.

Are these actual readings, or have they been adjusted for the margin of error? Plan on adding 10-20% to whatever the meter read.
