Reef Roids or Acropower (aminos)

Reef Roids or Acropower?

I've used Reef Roids, but more as a particulate food not as a source of amino acids.

I know some fellow reefers that swear by Acropower, but I have no experience with that product directly. I will say that carbohydrates and aminos are essential, especially if you run higher alkalinity like I do.

Where do you keep your alk?

I keep mine stable at 9dkh with water changes but sometimes have to dose it.

Roids mixed with LRS and Hakari shrimp, I use Brightwell for Aminos and I see definite results. Careful with roids though if you have even a speck of Hair algae it will take off growing. I used Acropower till I got Cyno and stopped and Brightwell has not done that yet in the two months I have been using I don’t know if that is related but it’s what I saw. My tank is super low no3 and po4, not by choice though.

They are completely different products, with different purposes. Also why is this an emergency?
Lol accidental emergency.
And I heard both are products that encourage growth. People tend to use one or the other but growth and color being the desired effect of both. Aminos don’t add phosphates like particulate food(supposedly) so I’m trying to get pros and cons for both or see whose more successful with their product

While that is basically true, I would say acropower is more to have better colours and overall health - It's much harder to measure this, some people love it, some say it has no effect some just like it.

Reef Roids is actual food you can and should target feed corals with mouths. Certain corals will benefit a lot more from this, where as some may have no reaction.

I wouldn't pick one or the other, but if you want to know what is working better start with one use it for 6 months then add the other and use that for 6 months.

I use both, here's how I do it:

Reef Roids is used twice a week, Wednesdays and Sundays;
Acropower is used as half of recommended dosage every day along with Fuel from Seachem. My tank is SPS dominated and I get very good growth from it.

Reef Roids!

Ok Ok. Not my picture! But even with VERY aggressive nutrient export on my tank...... you really gotta be careful to not overfeed this stuff. My coral love it, so I overfeed and then I wonder why my glass is filmy so quick!
