Reef Roids or Acropower?

Measurable nitrates (<1ppm but greater than 0; typically .2-.5ppm) and I try to keep phosphates <.1ppm. My opinion, all that stuff is a waste of money. I do feed my fish well (LRS Reef Frenzy) twice a day and I occasionally add algae sheets as well.
I think this is a good spot. It's how I typically run my tank, too, with respect to nutrients.

I got cyano dosing acropower too. I cleared it up with chemiclean. Waited a month and started to slowly add acropower again...cyano started showing up again! The colors on the corals popped tho. Maybe ill try brightwell.
I did put a cheep 24w Uv on my tank nothing too big but it might be keeping cyno at bay while I dose Brightwell IDK. Go slow I guess I add 20 drops every other day and keep the skimmer off for 5-6 hours after. What you said was true though, when my rocks and sand looked nasty with cyno the corals never looked better what’s us with that

I use a combination of both

How big of a tank/total water volume?

I'm at about 150 gallons, and I am going with four 25W AquaUVs...... I got good deals etc, so I didn't get one 100W ...... making my life more complicated of course!

I agree. So then what do you shoot to keep your nitrate and phosphate levels at so that they still get their nutrition?
Basically anything under .05 phosphates and between 3 to 10 nitrates. I don't chase the numbers, kind of let the corals tell me what they need. If they start to brown, I start nutrient export run my skimmer and refugium light 24/7 and do water changes. If they start to pale I start nutrient import, turn my skimmer and refugium light off. I guess you can say I'm a lazy reefer. I find when you keep it simple and let your tank do what it do, things work. When you start dosing and tweaking this and tweaking that, that's when your system levels goes out of balance and you start getting nusience algae and corals start to brown out and die.

Only 65 gal:( I keep it running 24/7 I dont know how much of an effect it has if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. I swear the brightwell has increased color and PE. Roids has always given me great results too it’s just dangerous because a little goes a long way. Everything in my tank goes ape ah!t when the roids hits the water. I think the best combo ever is LRS and a sprinkle of roids. It’s got something for everything

Lol accidental emergency.
And I heard both are products that encourage growth. People tend to use one or the other but growth and color being the desired effect of both. Aminos don’t add phosphates like particulate food(supposedly) so I’m trying to get pros and cons for both or see whose more successful with their product
Both are completely different things. Reef roids are zooplankton and a food source for some corals. Aminos are not food but really a building block for proteins. Corals can produce their own but not all can be synthesized.

Plus 1 all that. I feel you on starting to tweak things weird stuff starts happening.

Two sailfins? That's impressive. I had a red sea a long time ago who i think might have been a serial killer.
I have three sailfins (1 of each type). With this size tank- makes it easier

I use Brightwell aminos at 1/4 dose daily, and coral feast 2 days a week - direct fed not broadcast.

I use a combo of Benereef/Reef roids.
