Tank has been running smoothly so far, coral finally seem to be settling in , coloring and fully opening back up. Got some anthias yesterday . always wanted a pair, so here they are.

Heres goes a small update. So we had to take out our hippo tang, as he decided to become a bully out of no where. Had him for about 3 years and always been peaceful till now, so we found it a new home in a bigger tank. We changed the aquascape up a bit and got a powder blue to replace our hippo. So far the PBT is very peaceful and active compared to our hippo. The tank is looking more established , corals are starting to open up and color up more and more. Will be coral shopping soon.

Update on our build thread: Alot happend since the last update. Lost a few fish due to a power outage, surprisingly all corals and everything else survived and back to thriving. We also had to take down the tank as we were remodeling the room the tank was in, so we re did the rock scape while the tank was taken down temporarily. Heres some shots for you guys!

Looks very nice!

Could you tell me about your experience with Kessil? I am thinking to do the same but I need more info.

VERY Nice tank.
I'm curious since I also have a 90Gallon Tank. 4 Feet wide.
Mostly LPS, some zoa's Acan at bottom (NO SPS)

Mine is running 4xT5's and 1 Kessil A360WE in the middle. I can't set my Single Kessil past 40% the lower light corals start complaining.
I have an opportunity to add a 2nd Kessil 360WE, and was thinking I could get rid of my T5's. Was thinking with 2 Kessils covering whole Tank I could push them a bit over 40% since without the Four T5's
Do you use your kessils mostly for the Blue and your ORPHEK V4 is main lighting?
Or do you use all 3 lights since the two Kessils wouldn't be enough?
To me it appears you have overkill for lighting so you must run lights at separate time, or lower power (if all on at the same time).
Long question, so simple question is "How do you run your 3 lights"?

Hey Wally,

My setup consisted of 2 kessil a360we's and a orphek Pr156 led fixture. I used the orphek as the primary light source and the light power house for my reef, since it had much more punch then the kessils. My kessils were more for supplementation since the orphek alone did not cover the entire tank with out shadowing on the corners and sides. I did run the kessils more on the blue end of the spectrum with around 35% percent intensity max. All corals did great with this setup.

Even though I did run three lights over my tank, im pretty confident that the kessils alone would have been just fine.

I currently do not have this lighting setup, I sold the three fixtures and currently running 1 48inch reef breeders v2 led fixture. My previous lighting setup with the kessils worked great, it just did not look great over the tank (in my opinion). Too many fixtures and wires hanging over the tank. I wanted something much more simpler and clean looking, so going with one fixture for the entire tank was my option.

Hope this helps. If you got any more questions, ask away.

Thanks.
Yes, I do have couple of questions.
If you remember or tried......Did two Kessils overlapping (INCREASE or DECREASE "Shimmer" )?
I HATE SHIMMER (not for everyone..I don't like the light-noise). So my Daytime to Early evening lighting are my T5's.
When Kessil comes on BLUE, I turn off my Surface Circulation pump to lessen the Shimmer effect.
If two Kessil decrease shimmer I might consider it. But if two increases shimmer then "No way for me".
Also how was that Orphek for Shimmer /Disco [light noise] (I considered one for my new build), but decided on all T5 for the SPS only Tank.

Cool will be more than happy to answer them for you.

Overlapping kessils did decrease shimmer slightly, but very little. There was still lots of shimmer. I do like to have lots of water circulation so that may have intensified the shimmer. Either way kessils are the shimmer kings, by far the most shimmer ive seen any light produce, so if shimmer is not your thing you may want to look at different lighting.

As far as the orphek, it did have some shimmer, but nothing compared to the kessils. Shimmer on my orhpeks was on the low end. I would compare it to the kind of you get from metal halides. I think thats the best way to describe it. Zero disco effect. Overall nice solid spread with low shimmer.
