How is it possible to mess this up after the amount of research I’ve done?!? I must be a special kind of stupid.

Hose is to fit over the barb as pictured. Mine does not. It can be squeezed into it though. Which has be afraid of leaks.

Question: should I just shove the pipe in there and silicone it in place? Or, I also have a hard pipe option. It’s the same diameter as the barb. Should I just buy a connector piece and permanently stick it on there?

Do not put it inside, and you are not stupid

Did the pump come with other fittings for the outlet

One possibility (if I understand your question) is to heat up the hose with a heat gun or in boiling water (just the end) to make it more pliable and then when you slide it on to the barb and cinch it down with the hose clamp it will have a tight seal (this is only recommended if it is a reasonably close fit, otherwise look for an adapter or larger hose). Good luck!

Another thought real quick, hoses are sometime really hard to, get on. I usually heat a cup of water in a micro. Put the end of the tube into the water for a minute. Them the hose slides over the barn if the hose is the correct size.

Not sure how close a fit would be required. Pipe has 1/2 inch inside diameter and barb is 3/4 inch. Afraid that might be too much of a stretch

I dunno. It’s gonna have to be a stretch. I can give it a shot I guess cuz your the 2nd person to suggest it. Will try tomorrow when kids aren’t crawling all over me lol

Will keep u posted
Wish me luck

Luck, and again no stupid question. As I say, unless you ask me what the color of the sun is, and even then

Before you try it see if you can find anywhere on the parts or packing or instructions what size hose and fitting you have. If the fitting is 3/4 and your hose 1/2 we don’t want to stretch that much.

Let us know.

I’ve sent my husband to a hardware store w the pipe and the barb. He’s gonna look for a non permanent connector. If that’s even a thing.
Get a union to screw to the pump and make an attachment.

Thank you. That’s reassuring

It says it’s supposed to come w a 1/2 in option. It does. But that’s interior width. The wall is fat and won’t let the pipe squeeze over it.

You should also consider if 3/4 inch is the smallest adapter the pump came with then it's not meant for 1/2 inch tubing. Does it have a 1/2 inch adaptor? Can you run 3/4 inch tubing?

It does. But it’s 1/2 inch interior, 3/4 inch exterior. Which is the same as my tube.

That could be a hard plumbing connector. You may need an adaptor. Can you take both to lowes or home depot and say I need to connect A to B what do I need to buy? They usually have plumbers or retired plumbers there and what you have is a plumbing issue

Funny you should say. I’ve sent my husband to Home Depot with the hose and the barb lol. Let him figure it out Hahahaha
