Anyone have regrets with rimless? Having a 90G glass with black top rim myself, I already have hard enough time not spashing with cleaner magnet and keeping that top line clean. I kept a IM20 for a couple years and found it hard to keep that water line aesthetically pleasing.

I raised the height in the display tank by modifying the overflow of my AIO IM lagoon. May not want to do that with a drilled tank though since it is more likely to flood if anything clogs. Otherwise it takes time & patience to learn how to clean the top without splashing/making a mess :)

I have had my JBJ rm30 8 years and love it. Yes the splashing is annoying however I have been using the newer white sponge type cleaner on the top 1" and keeps it to a minimum.

I don’t have any regrets not getting a rimless tank.

I just had a tank custom built and I thought about going rimless, but I’m terrified of a seam busting - especially since I live in a second floor apartment. Instead, I had the builder do a eurobrace.

When I was getting the quote, the builder said he’d do a 2” eurobrace, but he ended up putting on a 4” eurobrace instead. When I’m seated and looking at the tank, I don’t even notice the brace. When I reach into my tank, it doesn’t get in my way at all either. If anything, I like having it as a ledge to sit things on while I’m working.

A eurobrace certainly isn’t as visually obtrusive as one of those black plastic rims.

Converted a 24g AIO to rimless and love the look. Defiantly requires some additional maintenance to keep the outside glass clean (and water in...). It’s kind of killing me to go to a rimmed larger aquarium but at 1/10 the price...

I have a rimless frag tank. Looks nice and I don’t have major issues with ‘dirty’ water line .... plus frags don’t jump out. For my main display with fishies I prefer eurobraced.

Love the rimless too I have no issue at all is your wave pump on high?

Rimless is nice but I prefer eurobrace myself. It certainly comes in handy when you have to clean the glass.
That being said, you get ugly salt buildup sometimes under the bracing(that I cant stand) and I end up spending a while scraping it off

I have a red sea reefer and if i were going to build a tank i would have a eurobrace. Theres a big acrylic lid on it anyways which pretty much makes it look like a eurobrace.. plus its nice to have a place to put things when you're working in the tank. Not to mention the peace of mind having a eurobrace gives you.
Ive also heard that with a eurobrace you can have thinner glass on the viewing panes which makes the tank look better.

I have a 60 rimless cube and hate above the water line. An inch and a half of dirty glass. If were only half an inch I would like it better

I wish my rimless had more glass above the water line. I'd be fine with a 4-5 inch wall. Then I'd consider some jumpy fish that I currently avoid. It'd still be risky, but less so. I can't stand the screen tops. I think they are hideous. A taller wall of glass would look better than a screen top and would be worth the time to clean it. If I ever do a custom tank again, that is my plan.

Thats a good point. Kind of like what WWC did with their huge lagoon. They have like 2 feet of extra glass above the water line though lol. really gotta have a lid in most other cases

I prefer rimless. Except for the fact that I feel like the return is gonna go over the rim sometimes

I don't think you will.be safe with a 4-5 inch high wall for jumpy fish. I had wrasses skyrocket out of the tank over a 1.5 ft wood part if the canopy that I had to seal more in the end to prevent jumpers.

I also have no issues with rimless. Magic eraser and the occasional razor blade keeps the water line clean. I have an acrylic/screen top to prevent jumping.
same here. Magic eraser once a week and a run over with the magnet cleaner once a week between the magic eraser and my 210 Rimless is fine.
I do occasionally have a bit of water splash over the edge if im working in there and move my arm too quickly if im close to the edge but thats more my fault than anything else and easy enough to wipe away.

Have a couple of IM rimless tanks and I'm not a fan in general at this point. Keeping the top 1.5" of dirty glass clean is maintenance you don't need to do on a rimmed tank - and once you put in the cover/screen piece, it basically just looks like a rimmed tank anyways. I don't see any real advantages.

I just love the look of a rimless. For a display purpose its so elegant looking to me. I also like the shallow rimless tanks for grow out. I haven't had any issues with water splashing and i have run mp40s to gyros in them.

I think its a matter of presence. I just love the look.
