Rimless regrets?

I just love the look of a rimless. For a display purpose its so elegant looking to me. I also like the shallow rimless tanks for grow out. I haven't had any issues with water splashing and i have run mp40s to gyros in them.

I think its a matter of presence. I just love the look.
Couldn't have said it better myself, I absolutely love the look of my rimless waterbox 100.3. Also makes it super easy to work in, no braces/rims in the way.

I don't think you will.be safe with a 4-5 inch high wall for jumpy fish. I had wrasses skyrocket out of the tank over a 1.5 ft wood part if the canopy that I had to seal more in the end to prevent jumpers.

Totally true, which is why I said still risky. Wrasses are like flying fish. But I'd be willing to gamble with other fish. I've had good runs with dartfish, blennies, and jawfish. I removed my screen top a while back, and enjoy having the open tank.

Awesome feedback everyone! Sounds like the magic eraser is a pretty useful tool.

I hate rimless tanks. Unfortunately couldn't pass up a deal from someone in a local reef club on a PA130. Had a canopy built for this one because I hate light spillage and seeing the water line. But probably won't help much with splashing.

If I ever buy another tank it will not be rimless, unless its a small nano. I had the seam pop in a IM SR80 for no apparent reason. So now I check the replacement tank seems all the time.
Plus, the glass gets dirtier easier. And since I run a lid all the time, the look of a rimless tank is a bit lost.

Anyone have regrets with rimless? Having a 90G glass with black top rim myself, I already have hard enough time not spashing with cleaner magnet and keeping that top line clean. I kept a IM20 for a couple years and found it hard to keep that water line aesthetically pleasing.
Read the tittle and thought why regrets if it’s not a large tank. Then I read the post and feel the pain. Mostly with wrasse saltcreep on thei glass from them jumping and splashing can get get messy

Have a Red Sea reefer. Next tank I’m definitely having a canopy. I don’t like seeing the underside of lights when sitting on couch and tried of messing with screen top.

No regrets on the smaller version Reefer 170, no dirty water line either scraping with a blade when needed, paper towel wipe down above water line in between. Regretted the former cube, it was so tall I couldn’t reach the bottom.

Been rimless for a bout two months now and will never go back :) Do have the same love hate that most folks do with waterline and constant cleaning. All in all though I love the clean look.

I don’t have any regrets not getting a rimless tank.

I just had a tank custom built and I thought about going rimless, but I’m terrified of a seam busting - especially since I live in a second floor apartment. Instead, I had the builder do a eurobrace.

When I was getting the quote, the builder said he’d do a 2” eurobrace, but he ended up putting on a 4” eurobrace instead. When I’m seated and looking at the tank, I don’t even notice the brace. When I reach into my tank, it doesn’t get in my way at all either. If anything, I like having it as a ledge to sit things on while I’m working.

A eurobrace certainly isn’t as visually obtrusive as one of those black plastic rims.

Nice Tank. I am planning on another tank. Do you mind sharing who built your tank with contact info. Thank you.

I’ve had my Red Sea reefer 5 years and I’m sure my next aquarium will be a rimless wit a custom clear top the look cannot be beat the rich look is

I don’t mind the black plastic rimmed tanks at all, but I don’t like cross bracing that will shadow the lights. I think rimless look nice but I would be too worried about failures.

The tank I want to buy next is a euro braced tank, imo it’s prob the best of both worlds.

I just love the rimless, they just look so clean. Exception is if you have a screen top, if you do it sort of undoes the clean look. If you can get away with no lid (and I do.. have foregone wrasses) rimless is my preference.

I do sometimes marvel at the fact it doesn’t fall apart though. So much pressure!
