I changed my membrane a month ago and I changed my 2 carbon blocks and my sediment filter 2 weeks ago and I made a lot of water (meaning it’s all flushed out).

My TDS after the membrane is 6ppm (I drained it after the membrane because I wanted to taste it).

My mom and I both drank a cup at the same time. (I was trying to brag about how my water quality is so excellent because we don’t have water filters in the house).

I expected the best tasting water in the world, instead it was horrible. Tasted like salt? Not really salt, but it had a distinct sour taste. I want to know if this taste means something? How can I make it taste good? Does bad tasting water mean poor quantity water for the reef?

Don’t drink your RODI dude
I stated that I drained it after the membrane (implying before the DI resin). I did not drink RODI water, I drank RO water. It’s perfectly safe.

To make RODI water taste good, don't run it through an RODI unit! Everything is stripped out of the water... It's not going to taste good.

Edit: just read your post above mine... Sorry, I thought it was run through the DI too. IDK why it tastes bad.

Most drinking systems don't have DI because it makes the water taste worse, and if they do have a DI, they then have another carbon block after the DI stage just to make it taste alright again.

Most rodi systems have a mineralization chamber after the di resin. Di water doesn't taste good and debatable not good for you. Since all the water has minerals removed there's a thought that the water will strip minerals from the body trying to reach a balance.

Thats true most ro units have minerization chamber for taste.
It's amazing how mother nature works. She designed perfect freshwater for us. You'd think there wouldn't be that much difference between mineralized (aka natural) water and water with nothing in it. Apparently there is based on this thread. :-)

I've had RO water for the past 3 homes and the last 18 years and the water taste absolutely fine. After the membrane, my drinking and ice maker water goes through an additional coconut shell carbon filter. I'd question the "sour" taste that you are getting from your unit.

I like the taste of zero tds. when’s the last time you cleaned your membrane housing and canisters?
I never cleaned out the actual canisters. I remember one time there was sludge when I didn’t change the filters on time, and I never sterilized it because I thought the new filters would take care of it.

Here my membrane. I just recently changed it last month
