RO tastes disgusting

R/O should taste like nothing if 0ppm but 6 is way high. I am changing my filters and membrane this week at 3 ppm after 1 year. Defiantly do not drink DI water. De-Ionized water is not drinking water.

My tap water at 160ppm tastes much better than my 6ppm RO water. :(

6ppm after his membranes should be fine with a 97% rejection rate right?

Might be time for a clean out. There’s a how to on it somewhere on here. Think people ran a vinegar solution through there’s. I just rinse with soap.

Most rodi systems have a mineralization chamber after the di resin. Di water doesn't taste good and debatable not good for you. Since all the water has minerals removed there's a thought that the water will strip minerals from the body trying to reach a balance.
Yes, but that's not true :)

Ob Fact, water they sell over the grocery store counter in many asian countries is RODI. You can end up with deficiencies drinking it, but it doesn't strip minerals from your body.

Any horrible taste is probably because most folks don't clean their RODI systems.

My tap is 250 ish. BRS 100gpd 5 stage makes it 0ppm. 6 means its time to change the filters.
I have 6ppm after membrane. 0 TDS after DI.

The purpose of this thread is for only the reverse osmosis part (no DI).

I will clean it out with vinegar

Drinking RO/DI water is perfectly safe, whether or not you like it is a matter of personal preference (I like it). RO/DI water does have a taste in my opinion, I find it tastes pretty similar to Crystal Geyser and Dasani bottled water.

Some fairly high mineral waters actually taste flat/empty to me. All that said, 6ppm water shouldn't taste sour, consider replacing your membrane if you haven't recently.

When I ran my RO water to refrigerator I used a taste and odor filter after it left the storage container.

I use an alkaline filter (3 filters in series) to replace some of the minerals removed by the RODI unit, also raises the PH to 7.6-10 depending how slow the water flows through the alkaline filter. This is the water I drink, this same process is used by many quality bottled water out there. There is so much talked about RODI water alone will harm you, I don't know but the water I make I am sure is better than most. I also run carbon blocks before and after the membranes because the membranes will change the taste of the water.
