RO tastes disgusting

I changed my membrane a month ago and I changed my 2 carbon blocks and my sediment filter 2 weeks ago and I made a lot of water (meaning it’s all flushed out).

My TDS after the membrane is 6ppm (I drained it after the membrane because I wanted to taste it).

My mom and I both drank a cup at the same time. (I was trying to brag about how my water quality is so excellent because we don’t have water filters in the house).

I expected the best tasting water in the world, instead it was horrible. Tasted like salt? Not really salt, but it had a distinct sour taste. I want to know if this taste means something? How can I make it taste good? Does bad tasting water mean poor quantity water for the reef?
Yeah ro water sucks I tried it a while back never again.

Bile enters the small intestine just below the stomach (not surprisingly it enters via the bile duct).

In certain conditions it can get up into the stomach and do damage. As the co-inventor of a pharmaceutical bile acid sequestrant (a polymer that binds bile salts in the small intestine to lower cholesterol) I consulted for a company trying to bind bile salts in the stomach to prevent said damage from reverse flow.
Is there nothing RHF can't do? :star-struck:

So webmd.com is wrong or a typo? It says bile is stomach acid and enters the stomach, I know about the ducts and where it comes from but. Thanks for this info. Since I retired I have more time on my hands to read and that is one site I frequent.

This is nonsense.

Previous posts already squashed this claim.
What are you saying? Slugsnorter is correct saying RODI water will leach minerals in areas that have more than the water. DI water is acidic. I know when I installed my water softener immediately my water heater sprung a leak. This happened in 2 houses I owned. Now I have a tankless water heater and water softener so I don't get the crust of minerals build up on my faucets.

That is simply wrong. Stomach fluids are not bile. Wikipedia has it correct:

What is the PH of Bourbon?

As a sufferer myself, alcohol causes acid reflux by weakening the muscle that normally blocks stomach acid from going up the esophagus. It’s not that is necessarily alters the stomach pH.

Totally pure water is neither acidic nor basic and has a pH of 7. If you let that water equilibrate with air, CO2 enters, lowering the pH into the 6’s or even the 5’s, and can raise tds a bit.

That’s very brave of you to open up about your struggles. I wish you peace. :)

It’s the sphincter muscle I believe?

I don't drink alcohol and I still get acid reflux occasionally, I must have weak muscles, need to work out a bit. lol
Thanks for setting me straight Randy. and Slugsnorter.

RODI water does not leach minerals from the human body. It is nonsense.

There are plenty of published articles from reputable medical sources if you care to find them.

It's an old wives tale.

Also, RODI water is not acidic, it essentially has no buffering so can easily become acid or basic, but it is intrinsically neutral.

RODI water is very reactive, that is true, but is irrelevant to taste.

You may be right about RODI not leaching minerals from your body, but I will play it safe and not drink it. Although why does softened water leach minerals from the bottom of water heater tanks and exposing corrosion that is sealed from the minerals that settle out of hard water and suddenly leak?

I tested RODI water and is certainly acidic, I just tested again and I get 6.0 or less. When I run the same water through alkaline filters I get a ph of 7.2-10 depending on the speed of water flow.

From what I've heard rodi water can be used to remove toxins from your body because it does in fact absorb pretty much anything around it. When you think about it places like south America naturally has water that gets down into the 5s and they've been drinking it for ages. Just my 2 cents because I'm not a biologist.
