Well I've had my system up and running now for almost 2 months. It would've been running for 3 months but I ran into a little set back. Here are some pics of the construction phase to the semi finished system. I still need a few things to complete the build. The DT is 270g 72''x36''x24'' glass tank. My filtration will be in my garage and the DT in my office so I will run plumbing down my crawl space and into the garage. Now onto the pics. The 1st set of pics is my stand I built for the sump, fuges and frag tanks, 125g sump and the DT with the OFB box installed.

very nice, great start! cant wait to see it finished.

I'm looking forward to reading your progression on this monster build.

My dream dimensions. I can't wait to see it filled.

Thanks guys! It is 75% done. I just need to get my lazy butt$ going again and get the fuge and frag tanks online. Here are some pics of the bracket I had a friend fabricate for me to hold the canopy suspended over the tank.

Some pics of my filtration in the garage. The only thing I have online right now is the sump. I still need to get my fuge and frag tanks online soon. All the tanks return will be running off of the one pump. I had 2 dedicated 20A circuits put in just to run the system. All lighting and reactors will be on one circuit and all pumps and everything else will be on the other.

These set of pics are of the rock I will be using for the aquascape. I used all dead rock because I want to start off knowing what is in my tank and don't want any pest hitchhikers. I am only using about 220lbs of dry rock. Mostly branches because I like the look better and also are great for the base of your rock work as you have multiple points of contact on the glass for a more stable base, very minimal chuncky rock to block the water flow in between the rock work and best of all more room for fish to swim and hide in and around of it. I also chose to go half BB and half SSB. I prefer BB but I want some wrasses that require sand. So the front half of the tank is SSB and the back half is BB. Now here are the pics.

your DT is such a sick tank. those dimensions are amazing. 270 breeder lol. did you get this custom built? also, is that a 30 breeder in the last pic, all the way to the left while looking at the pic? stock list? what are you going to use for lights?

Thanks... I love the FP of the tank too! The tank itself was custom built for a local guy here that had a 1000g shark tank. He used the 270 as his giant sump. I bought it for a great deal and converted it into my DT. I had to drill a couple holes for my drain and return and put a OFB in. Yes the tank at the far left is a 30b 24''x24''x13''. It will be my frag tank. For lighting I have 3 Large LB reflectors and I havn't figured out what I will be using for actinics yet as I want to make the canopy look as clean as possible. My stocking list is Chevron, Powder Blue, Achilles and Purple Tang and maybe a pair of Crosshatch or Bluethroat triggers. That is it for big fishes the rest will be small fish such as wrasses, sandsifters and other small fishes. I really want to do groups of smaller fishes but havn't figured out what yet.

Really nice tank, and looks like everything is coming along nicely. i cant wait to see it all filled up. i like the idea of the half bb, really neat idea.

Well you don't have to wait too long as it has been up and running for almost 2 months now. I'm just posting pics of the progression. Here is pics of the tank with all the rock in it and water going in it.

So now this is where I ran into a little problem. If you read from the beginning I stated that I had a little set back with the build. Well after I filled the tank up with water. I had some leaks. So I repaired all the leaks but I had one leak which was nothing major it was just a small leak that was entering the OFB mid way down the DT. So I drained the tank to where the leak was and patched it up with silicone. I needed some extra plumbing so I went to HD's to get some parts and when I got home it was still leaking so I completly drained the tank and patched up the whole inside OFB. Now I had to go to the doctor so I thought it was smart to use a blow dryer to speed up the curing of the silicone. I thought I had set it on air only. So now off to the Dr. I go see. I get back a couple hrs later all excited to get the tank up and running. I go to see how the silicone was doing and that was when I saw the crack in between the 2 holes I had drilled for the return and drain. I was danm ticked at myself for using the blow dryer to help cure the silicone never again will I do that LOL. So any ways I had to order a whole new 3/8th '' tempered glass sheet to patch the whole bottome glass. Luckly the tank's top is just braced on the front and back of the tank and not the sides so I was able to slide the new sheet of glass in with no problems.

Now here are some pics of the post crack, tank rotated and the black spray paint I had to scrape off. Luckly I didn't have to drill anymore holes. There was a hole 1 1/2'' on the side of the tank already so I just used that as my drain and my return now comes up and over the back of the DT.

These pics are of my mods I did with the WS and Tunze pumps for flow. In addition to these I will have 2 MP40 on each long end and a Tunze 6101 hidden in the back left corner to keep the back half which is BB flushed of detritus build up.
