beautiful aquascape
what kind of bleenie is that he looks awesome

Thank you Phil! I love the aquascape myself. Lots of cave, nooks and crannies for fish to hide and swim in and out of. The fish is a Midas Blenny.

oh sorry i missed the been up for two months in the beginning post. lol.
well the tank is looking great, and i really like the rockwork !

What a great build!
Ive seen this in person, its an amazing setup!!

Thanks Niles!!!

Oh no problem no need for apoligies. I tend to not read everything myself when there are lots of pics to look at:bigsmile:. Thank you it is only the beginning of the project. So much to do not enough time in a day to do it all LOL. I'm digging the rock work too:bigsmile:.

Wow, I like the aquascaping, plenty of hidey holes and allows for circulation.

I also like the door in the end of the stand. I think all stands should have an end door. That way you can put a sump in almost as big as the base of the cabinet.

Thanks! That was the plan.

I agree all stands should be made with openings on the sides. Although all my filtration is in the garage. Everything is plumbed through the floor into the crawl space and out to the garage. Keeps all the noise outside of the house.

Yeah but you have the *OPTION* to put a big sump in if you want to.

I recently ordered a 480 gallon three tank system in a horseshoe arrangement with 10 doors in the cabinets. A 100 gallon sump went in through one of them. I can get to the sump from 4 of them.

You have an awesome setup. Good luck. Keep the pics coming!

Yeah I hear ya. That is the reason why I had it built this way also. So that way if I decide to sell the beast the new owner has the opening there if they so choose to have an over sized sump underneath the DT.

A 3 tank system huh? How big is each tank? Sounds like it will be a great build for you! I will try to get more pics up soon. My tank has gone through the ugly diatom bloom and now is going through the light green algea film bloom and hopefully that will be done soon. I got some SPS and LPS in there now but I lost 4 or 5 pieces of my acans and favia however I am shocked that my SPS are doing good in there. It looks like my overly stocked 40b will be running for another 2 or 3 months until I think it is safe to transfer more stuff from the 40b over. So I think I should start a thread on my packed 40b. While I wait for this tank to develop and mature.

Thanks... I love the FP of the tank too! The tank itself was custom built for a local guy here that had a 1000g shark tank. He used the 270 as his giant sump. I bought it for a great deal and converted it into my DT. I had to drill a couple holes for my drain and return and put a OFB in. Yes the tank at the far left is a 30b 24''x24''x13''. It will be my frag tank. For lighting I have 3 Large LB reflectors and I havn't figured out what I will be using for actinics yet as I want to make the canopy look as clean as possible. My stocking list is Chevron, Powder Blue, Achilles and Purple Tang and maybe a pair of Crosshatch or Bluethroat triggers. That is it for big fishes the rest will be small fish such as wrasses, sandsifters and other small fishes. I really want to do groups of smaller fishes but havn't figured out what yet.

wow you did a lot of work (if this was all done today) I would love to see that guys shark tank! do u remember any of his inhabitants?

well i was going to say some firefish, but then i realized you had an open top. but then again, its such a massive tank that firefish should not carpet surf! i think u need a nice blue carpet anemone, hosted by some snowflakes! sick stock list, achilles tang is my favorite fish!

you should get one of these bad boys! my friend had one, but he paid a good 1700 less than the current rate of them..

Thanks... LOL no that was not all done in one day. I started this thread all in one day LOL.The project started late January and the system has been running for almost 2 months now. I still need to get the fuge and frag/quaratine tank online here pretty soon. I won't be having any type of anenome in the DT how ever I do plan a RBTA fuge in the garage with either picassos or Snocassos. I plan to use a nylon net on the open top DT to take care of potential carpet surfers. As far as the guys 1000g tank he had a black tip reef shark and a bunch of tangs and angels.

Oh yeah I would love to get one of those Gem Tangs!! My pockets just ain't that deep seeing them online LOL. Can you PM me where your friend got his from?

What is the black snake looking thing, in the bottom of the tank before anything else was in it, and below the live rock after it was placed?

And what is the thing on the table next to the chiller that looks like a paper towel holder with a green parrot food bowl on the side? :misdoubt:
