Love your choices of fish Brad, why no more Melanarus

Thanks Brett. I'd like to possibly go by, but removing the sand with every WC seems to be problematic (IMO) with disrupting the bed. Plus I was worried that a current wrasse like my melanarus wouldn't allow my dream pair or trio of flames.

Tiny update and notes to self:

Added 2 more corals, a blue tort and big chunk of confusia monti.

Bonsai and highlighter frags showing burnt tips. Not sure why.

Ricordia is splitting like crazy, mushrooms are exploding everywhere, fish are getting fatter from nori.

Fuge ain't growing and really considering a sump make over.

Ripped my sump out tonight. Replaced it with a 55g w/o baffles. Sounds like a waterfall, but much cleaner. Try to get my acro's issues under crontrol. Most are stning on the tips. Also noticed my foxface nipping at the frags that have stn tips. We'll see if he keeps this up or finds a adoption.

Brad, are you running bio pellets or anything like that? Burned SPS tips tend to grow algae pretty quick, the foxface is most likely just picking at that.

Thanks Brett. No bio pellets, no gfo. Just my skimmer, return, tiny fuge for pods and a small bag of carbon (baseball size). I have no clue on the sps.

I agree that the foxface is probably just cleaning the algae off of the tips. What are your parameters at for CAL/ALK/MAG? I've found that mine look best at 450/8.5/1350 and I run bio-pellets.

Thanks Ryan. My cal is 425,alk is 8.8, mag hasn't been check.

Those two look good. Did you make any other changes besides the sump? Lighting schedule, feeding amount, etc..?

Only recently changed to back to mh from LEDs. Changed at beginning of July, used old lights to help light switch, and moved frag rack down to bottom. I left a milli and poci 3/4 the way up and both are great. Also added more fish and changed over to DIY cal.

Lol, no calcium reactor for me!! DIY calcium, aka dowflake. 2.5 cups per gallon roughly. If sps don't pan out by the end of this year, I may go all lps or lps with zoas.

Lol!!! I've received the milli and poci for free and whata ya know, it's fine. The paid for acros ain't,lol. I guess sit it and forget it applies. Ha ha
