Saltgator's 240 Build

Be gental, LOL. These were taken a few hours ago with my HTC EVO LTE cell. The DT is in a reconstruction process, so please don't mind the algae, coraline on the front, rocks not stacked, etc. I'm in the process of narrowing my issues down (SPS just are not happy, well, they are dieing and I have no clue as to the reasoning). Any questions or comments, please go ahead with them. Enjoy

My new toy. RA+ (Please don't read the readings. The temp probe it out and the PH has yet to be installed).

Add-on fuge. Not sure if I'm digging it yet. Only added to assist.

wow the regal is so pretty and i really want a vlamingi tang.

Thanks. I got luck when this guy came my way. He was QT'd prior to my purchase and had already started taking frozen food. The Vlamingi was a trade for 2 acan colonies. I really enjoy having a tang that wants attention 24/7.

To all whom may look thru the thread, just want to give a couple quick statements. The DT has been going thru this issue of Nitrates and Phosphates and losing SPS. The Nitrates are now at zero, but the phosphates are .25 ppm!!!! I have no clue why, been rinsing the food, cutting feedings, kicked up the flow on the pellet reactor, added a fuge, W/C after W/C, siphoned the sand and sump. Really considering the thought of pulling all the substrate out (Tropic Eden Reef Flakes) and trying BB. During this, basiclly scrubing the whole tank down with a Mr. Clean eraser. Probally not going to that extreme yet, I just want my corals to be happy. Anyway, thanks for looking.

Looking good, how many clams do you have now?

Looking good?! Ha, are you looking thru the dirty glasses? LOL, just kidding. I still only have the 2, a 7+ inch Squamossa and a 3 inch blue maxima. I really want more, but so far, nobody has even looked at the clams. I'm really liking a few patterns I've seen lately.

The tank doesn't look as bad as you make it out to be. you have some gorgeous corals and fish in there. I'm sure you'll find the source of your phosphates and everything will turn out to be just fine. Have you thought about running any phosban or other source of phosphate removal media?

I just started running a little bit of gfo high capacity to help. 5 days and no change. I'm probably going to bump up my BRS bio pellets and add a pinch more gfo.

Brad, thanks for sharing those updated pics! The tank looks good and as someone else mentioned, you have some nice looking corals and beautiful fish in there. We LOVE that yellow bellied Regal!

Thanks M&T. I love my yellow belly regal too. Almost to the point of building things to suit him

Looking really great Brad. How long have you been setup now?

Hey Brett, my 240 has been up since April of last year, but all the rock, clowns, some water, inverts, some corals and a cup of sand were all in my 125 previously. That was set up for 2+ years

After my 10+ inch rbta split, I decided to sell both half's since my picassos have the mag nem as home.
Smaller split.

Larger split.

During the holding of the last nem for my buddy, below is what you get with hungry fish trying to get 2 pieces of mysis. Btw, the holding cage is a XL critter cage I modded, the vlamingi is 6+ inches, and the regal is 5+ inches. :D

Those are some good size fish! Very cool that your RBTA split. Hopefully you can recoup some of your costs and save a local reefer some money!

I like giving back to my locals. 1 sold for $75, the other is being traded for a 900gph pump and maybe a sps frag.
