Saltwater Tanks: What do you hate?

All the cool stuff I see for sale that when I go looking for care information it turns out they really can't be kept in captivity for a long period of time. Or no one knows enough about them to keep them long term. Or they're extremely difficult and only a few people have managed to keep them alive.

Looking at you, nudibranchs.

Seeing inappropriate animals being sold into the hobby is more of a pet peeve for me.

And let's not forget all the different species of sea stars that are being sold as scavengers and algae grazers.

FOWLR .. sorry, but the nicest saltwater fish pale in comparison to fw options. The meanest sw fish pale in comparison to fw.

SW fish have nothing on fw in general.

Have you seen a Manderian fish. I have never seen a FW fish as beautiful. JS.

Knowing I can't get that diamond gobi because I have no room for a refugium to properly feed it

I have a mandarin that I target feed every day and he comes to my turkey baster when I turn my pump off. I usually pile all the food in a pile for him so he can stare at it and shake his head all he wants. But nothing ticks me off more when he chases a random single piece while staring at it and loses the pile I made for him. He will look everywhere through the tank for food and I have to fight clown fish to guard the pile.

My manderian is spoiled. I won't put anything in my tank that might bother Kermit. I even added a small hob fish breeding box to use as a small refugium strictly to breed pods. ( it now homes two hermit crabs because they were trying to kill my turbo snail. Donating them to classroom tank where I work). I also target feed with filter turned off. I make sure everyone gets to eat. I also buy live pods once a month. I think I spend more on his food than I do mine. Lol

Sounds like you've never heard of many FW fish outside of the common stuff :)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I believe all of these give a mandarin a run for their money. js ;)

I admit they are beautiful but I still like my manderian more. Lol.

I hate driving 70 miles to the nearest saltwater fish store and they don't have anything I will or can buy.

Online is the way to go [emoji106]

I hate driving 70 miles to the nearest saltwater store because everyone got cheap(er) and lazy(er) and started shopping online.
