Go 2 ur lfs SALT store. Not petco crap and ask all the questions I've written down and go 2 other for same questions and make ur own decision. Just like a doctor everyone has learned different or is sponsored by a product 2 sell it so ask all lfs's with reputation. Ull know when u walk in. And these guys here r the best help around off local grounds.Soon I will be starting my first saltwater aquarium.
For all of you who have been in this hobby for a long time, what are some of the things you wished you knew when you first started out? Anything you wish you had purchased earlier(Equipment wise, etc.)? Or not purchased at all? Do you regret doing something that cost you?
If there's anythint you could tell someone coming into the hobby, what would it be?
(Most of you are probably thinking "Be prepared to spend, and spend, and spend $$)
Cheers.

I have a JBJ 30Gal coming Wednesday. Wanted to start with an all in one for my first tank. I received the lights through mail today, but had to return them because the power chord would not work for my outlet. Now searching for good lighting at an affordable cost for me. I think I've found the right RO/DI and ATO system online as well and should be ordering them possibly tomorrow.60% of knowledge will b learned by yourself on ur tank as every1 is different. I found R2R at my 9th month. Wish I was like u and asked but man I've learned ALOT of 1st hand and have not had a major problem besides with male clown and wasn't my fault. Got 3 corals for his loss as they knew it wasn't me and treat me well. So enjoy Mother Nature where no1 sees it but us reefers. Also if possible get a reef ready tank(predrilled) with overflow and make ur own setup. Ull b a lot more proud. And knowledgeable and b on here helpn others.
Where do you live? LolAnd if u get mushys they grow FAST. SLOW AT 1st then take over. Had 2 glue my red monti 2 rock on left as a crap broke the glue and it slid under it and that's y it's white on edge. So if ur close 2 me. Free mushys
You're good lol and I haven't got the tank yet, but I'm just using everything it comes with first off. What r u running filteration on it? And sorry I talk alot
What does a UV sterilizer do? And good lol I'm planning on getting a couple corals but nothing crazy at the momentA couple of things....First, I wish I had known to have had excellent flow in the tank. Need to get some great power heads that are not the cheap ones. Secondly, a UV sterilizer will do wonders in a tank. Alot of cloudiness can be easily cured by having one of these great gadgets. Third, think about tank placement more before you set it up. Make sure sunlight is away from the tank. Make sure you put the tank far enough away from the wall in case you need the extra room later on for equipment upgrade. If you want to go fish only, really it's not that expensive. Corals, and taking care of them can add up costing lots of $$$$.
