SC Aquariums 50 gallon PNP

Traded with a buddy of mine. I gave him some Sunny D Zoa's and some pulsing Xenia.

I got this in exchange. I was going to hook him up anyways so win win.

This is it in his tank.

Now in mine. It was a little upset at first lol.

Then it started coming around.

Lights are already ramping down but so far so good.

Looks like it likes your tank better already. Nice pick up man. Is it going to over compliment your green one?

I think they will balance each other out nicely from the side view. What do you think?

On another note my "mermaid" tail as the fiancee calls it is growing another branch already!

Yeah, that side view will do. My eye goes bam to the mushroom, but then searches for life after the climax. Tank looks nice. I get the blues and like them. Makes me want to put a vinyl slice of Jimmy Vaughn on the turntable. Kids are watching nhra drag racing before bed though. The engines will calm me for now.

If that mermaid tale is a ponape, you have that in a great spot to keep those colors without bleaching it white. 2 weeks or more in your tank? Nice!

That's the one! 16 days today. Man I have gotten so lucky with placement and what not. Haven't even measured par yet. *knocks on wood*.

So my estimate was that I have $2500 in livestock and $2500 in equipment and supplies.

Was pretty close. This does not include the shipping. That's assuming I didn't forget anything. Lol.

Edit: I forgot my order from cultivated reef. New total 2524.07

If you don't mind me asking, what did you end up doing about a heater? One or two, wattage, location, etc. Thanks!

I'm using a 100W Aquen pro heater. Technically it is only good for up to a 40 gallon tank. It's about 5 years old and it is actually running just fine. I planned to replace it with a brand new one but with my luck the new one would have issues. Figured if it isn't broke, then don't fix it. I'm using a Ranco 2 stage temperature controller to kick on the fans when it gets too hot and kick on the heater when it gets too cold. Tank has been staying at around 78F, which is right in the sweet spot where nothing actually runs. I also bought a Lifegard Aquatics Big Digital Temperature Alert thermometer. It beeps whenever the temp gets too hot or too cold. Have had it beep when doing water changes for a few minutes so it appears to work good. I figure that since I live in Texas if my heater were to fail off, it likely wouldn't be that critical since the tank temp probably wouldn't drop much since ambient temp is always around 75F. May look into getting another heater when winter comes again. I do agree in theory that two smaller heaters is more ideal than one larger one. So eventually I do plan to change my setup a bit.

Awesome! Thank you so much for taking the time to describe your setup. I have the same Temperature Alert thermometer. Eventually, I'll add an Apex controller, but I want to make sure I have a complete understanding of my equipment and how it is balanced, prior to automating too much. With our locations, I'll be relying on heaters more than you. I know I prefer the concept of having two, but I'm not sold on there being space to effectively use two in the sump.

Tank looks great man, why’d you Shanghai your azure damsel to the LFS?

Was going to kill my Royal Gramma. Thought about releasing it back in the tank after some time but I know I would never ever be able to get lucky and catch it again without tearing apart the tank. Just not something I want to deal with.

I feel ya.
