SC Aquariums 50 gallon PNP

Phosphates came back at .123 ppm today. That makes more sense since I am feeding a little on the heavier side to try and bulk up my fish lol. Alk is at about .5dKH consumption per day which is almost double from before! Woohoo!

Rastas a growing a new little polyp. It came with 2 and now going on 4.

looking good man, all the acros doing well? do you still have just the 1 mp10?

No complaints so far from the acros. A couple of them seem to be getting some nice color and seeing a little bit of growth on certain ones too. I'm running 2 MP10's. Added the second one before I had any Acros I believe. They are both on the back wall. It would likely be even more beneficial to have at least one gyre or even a powerhead going across the tank but just can't do that to one of my 3 viewing panels lol.

hah yeah, i added an icecap 1k and decided to make that side my less viewable side. i moved both of my powerheads over there (although now feeling like adding another on the other side wouldn't hurt.. i guess i'm a flow junky)

but my ATO container is also over there so i'm going to put all of my powerstrips over there and eventually when i get a dosing container and pump it'll go over there too. it's kind of a bummer to lose a viewing side, but with the tiny cube cabinet i just can't find ways to put everything under there. i'd love to find a cabinet i could put next to the tank to throw everything in, but nothing seems like it'd fit. i put my tank in a weird small wall between my kitchen and living room so the cabinet would have to be really tall and really skinny lol

I got a brown filter lens for my phone finally. Here is a pic of that wall hammer I picked up a couple weeks ago like I see it with my own eyes. When it gets fragged, you get a chunk. I know a guy with a saw that lives 25 minutes away.

Wall hammer? I don't think I have any wall ones yet. I think all mine are branching I think. Have to double check though.

Have a bit of GHA, likely from over feeding. Maybe on 10% of the rocks. Not too worried about it. Just added some cheato to my sump, will try to manually remove some soon, may eventually try peroxide, and also may look into adding a member or two to the CUC.

Couple more pics of the tank.

I use phosphate rx to control hair algae. Get the ultra low phosphorus hanna checker and see what it is. Start slow though so you don't bottom out. When my phosphate reads zero, a little dose of trisodium phosphate to bring it back to detection. Acros like a little phosphate, GHA likes more. The cheato will eat some up. Keep track of your numbers. I hope you survived the dentist. I'd rather go to my own funeral than that place. The noises and the smell gets me tensed up for just a cleaning.

I already have the Hanna ULR checker.

What number do you target? Here are my results. Seems that the numbers are all over the place but this last test is my highest ever, which makes sense since I was over feeding a bit to help my Royal Gramma get a little belly and to strengthen it up a bit.

Have you Reef roided recently, I find that to give me phos spikes, feeding usually gives nitrate spikes.

Yes, I use it once a week. Is that too much? I've been making it a little too watery lately. I'm trying to make it more like a paste but using a really long coral feeder so need to try less water next time so I'm not broadcasting it like I have been.

Once a week is fine but making a paste is risky. In my 90 I wouldn’t feed more than a 1/8th of a teaspoon. I’ve tried using more before. Phosphates skyrocket and things look bad for a month.

I was just listening to this guy. Seemed like he knew what he was doing but yeah still need to play with what works best. Acans seems to be happy though Lol, little pigs!
