Schnitzels Shallow 250 Leemar

Ok, now that I have some more time instead of being on my phone. I just wanted to tag above so I could find this thread again.

I'm in love with your tank dimensions. I want to do something like this once my wife and I become home owners. You're essentially living the dream for me, with your GSXR, Polaris 900, Great Dane, Cali Local, and now your sweet new tank.

FWIW, I didn't think the original stain on that stand was garbage, I was VERY impressed to see the new stain though. IMO the guy did what looks like a nice job to start with, seems like he just messed up a bit with the color. Look forwarding to watching this get aquascaped and stoked, I will be along for the ride.

All that work on plumbing and painting just for this...can u see the pipes??? Lol.

Obviously u can see the pipes, but at least they don't stand out. Plumbing this tank was seriously the hardest work I've ever put into the hobby so far. Part of the reason was I had John build my sump with 3 holes in the top for the drain pipes. That made it super hard to plumb. If one of the pipes was off an inch or two, it wouldn't fit in the hole. I probably have a total of 10-15 hours of strait plumbing on this tank. Took me the whole week to get it done. From cutting to painting. But at least I know it was done right and it looks damm good too.

Looks great, do be careful with the krylon on pvc before glueing, the pvc primer will melt the paint and you may have issues with getting good watertight junctions. I had some issues with mine. Now i paint after glueing or sand off the paint prior.

Black plumbing is a great touch. You will have to have tank show and tell when it's all done!

Yea I cut and glued everything before I painted. I wanted nice clean plastic to glue to.

Your tank and stand are looking really good, just getting caught up on your build....I have to say re-staining was a brilliant move.

I made the mistake of painting my PVC before assembly....looks like I have a lot of sanding to do in the near future lol

Thanks

I would just use paint thinner or acetone, it should strip the paint right off.

Question: Did you paint the PVC with Kryolon that goes into the water? I recently did this on a frag tank I plan on plumbing into my DT, and want to make sure it's reef safe. Looks great, good thinking ahead getting ready for any reactors!

Ya the Krylon is fine in water. I've used it in other tanks and had no issues.

Some medical grade dosing pumps I picked up for my auto water change system
