Schnitzel's SPS

Thanks man. [emoji1303]
I can promise you one thing, you absolutely won't regret it. Only thing I regret about T5s, is not buying them sooner. Not 1 coral looks worse under T5s. All my Sps are doing much better, as far as color and growth grow.

My tank is actually shallow. It's 96"x30"x21" tall.

My other light setup was 5 radion G3 non pros, and 6x80w t5s. 4 of the radions had wide angle lenses, and the 5th one that was over my cross brace had the original lens. The highest par reading I was getting was 350. That was at the very top of my tank, just below the water line. That was with all radions and t5s on. The lights were about 10-12" about my tank.

At the time I checked the par, I was running a 16k light schedule, so the lights didn't have lots of white or red. This could have been why the par was so low. Later on I changed the schedule to run all color channels at 100% for 5 hours, and some acros started looking better. BUT, then I started seeing lots of algae, and notice I said SOME acros. After switching to T5s, ALL acros looked better.

Not sure if that helps at all. But I can tell you my radion experience wasn't a good one. It was a hard $3000 lesson.
Join the Club, I had the same experience with my G3 Pros and i had eight! I went back to my MH set up that thank goodness i didnt sell, you couldnt buy those pendants again if you tried. No, i didnt sell my G3 Pros, i would have taken a major hit if i did so i used them as expensive supplimental lighting to my 400 watt 20K MH. Best of both worlds and now my corals have color, growth and look great when only the radions are on for that extra pop. What did you do with yours?

I sold mine. Luckily it was enough to pay for my new T5s and Reefbrites. Win win

Any pictures of the fire tablet up and running?
Great looking tank. Ati fixtures all the way!

Still sitting in the box. Haha.

One of the ballasts went out on my ATI, and I installed 2 new SeaSweeps. So I've been working on that lately. Also bought a new motorcycle, so the wife and I have been riding a lot on the weekends

Took some lazy iPhone pics. I am using a gel filter so the pics arent washed out blue.

Things have been going very well for the tank. Steady growth and good colors. Fish are healthy. Can't really complain. Just did a couple 50g water changes over the past couple weeks. Had some cyano start popping up on the sand bed. That's because I hadn't done a water change in 3-4 months. Cyano is already starting to go away.

Absolutely beautiful. I like the coral placement in that last photo. They are growing in very well. Great mix of color and growth pattern.

Thanks you! Everything in this tank was grown out from tiny frags. That's why the growth patterns are so wild. I've seen a lot of tanks where guys start with mariculture/Wild colonies, and they grow much more uniform.

Looks great.

I had a great deal from a local for an ATI dimmable fixture + reef brite strips (6 bulb 24"), so I decided to take the plunge and replace my two Hydra 26HDs on my 40 breeder. I am switching over this week and won't be losing any money from the LEDs --> T5/LED switch. I just couldn't get my color/growth where I wanted it with them, although I admit I gave up early due to the massive amounts of success I have observed on T5 tanks. My problem was that the lighting had so many hot spots/dim spots that I would either fry a coral or brown it out at the same depth. Hope to see some of the success you have had.

Beautiful tank you have there.
How long have you have all the 3 yellow tangs and the powder blue tang together?
Any fighting at all?

3 yellows have been in there 3 years. Powder blue 4 months. They don't fight. I don't have any issues with tangs fighting

Photos look great!

Quick question, any issues with that orange spot rabbit fish nibbling on coral? I had one years ago and one night he just decided that he liked zoas. Almost wiped them all out before I could extract him from the tank.

No zoas, so I don't worry about it. I've heard they love softies.
