I'm setting up a new 115 gallon mixed reef tank and I'm looking for a new skimmer. I've done a fair bit of research and I would like to consider the new Seachem Aquavitro Skimmer but don't find any reviews or user experience with this skimmer other than Jake Adams review from Reef Builders. Nothing against Mr. Adams as I respect his opinion and enjoy his website and Youtube channel but I would like to see some additional thoughts on this skimmer. I like the concepts employed by this skimmer but can't find much else about it.

Yeah,
Like the total concept as well and hope someone will post.

Looks like you have to buy it from a brick and mortar shop like their Salinity salt mix.

If you pull the trigger please respond back with your thoughts

GoVols, I'm still on the fence. I don't have a problem purchasing it through my local LFS and I actually applaud SeaChem for only releasing it for sale through a LFS but that said, one would think that SeaChem would do more to promote this product.

If I recall, they were just launching it a few weeks ago. There was a Reef News Network podcast on it Nov. 6.

To be honest I never watched the Reefbuilder's video until you posted this thread.

lol
I use their Salinity salt mix, but I can't buy it online. I've asked SeaChem to remove the rest of that product line, off the internet, but it's hard to track some of those vendors down, that post on Amazon.

Sent an email to Seachem last night since it's not on their Aquavtrio website. Not in the market, but would like to know when that skimmer line is going to be ready to purchase.

Its available for sale. I have found a couple of places that say its in stock. I would like to see a few reviews, details before ordering.

Agree,
They could at least put them on their website and post their specs.

They have one running at a local store here. It looked nice enough. Seemed quiet and was pulling some dark gunk. I like the ability to run it counter-current recirculating. I agree it would be nice if Seachem posted some specs somewhere.

Well, I purchased the 250 model for an upcoming 115 gallon tank. I won't get it until next week but since my tank and stand have not been completed, I probably won't get to see this operational for at least another month.

My LFS says they’re legit and plans to put one on one of his systems to help advertise it since reviews and advertising are limited.

Just got the 125 today for my 75g mixed reef
Seachem Aquavitro 125. A few notes on how I set up and tune the skimmer.

Do NOT put the air intake/silencer on the skimmer overflow. It will take in water and not drain (like when I turn off my pump to do a water change). I hang it outside the sump.
Having the skimmer between the min level line on the pump and the top of the pump seems to work best (6-8 Inches).
I let the pump take as much water as it can. I took the restriction pin out of the water intake. (this is one thing I did not mess around with, might be able to use if you have sitting deeper in sump)
Put on the collection cup.
I set the air to full close and the overflow all the way down. Crack open the air line and watch the bubbles. Too much air and I get big air bubbles in the neck. I like lost of little bubbles, so my is set mostly closed and this give lots of small bubbles up in the neck of the collection cup.
Then slowly bring up the overflow until the bubbles are at the top of neck of the collection cup.
1/4 turn adjustments (at most) I tweaked it to work best for me. Took a few tries to get it right where I wanted it.
I tried having in deeper water, but my skim was very wet and filled up quickly, could not keep the head pressure down.
You don't need the filter & sock on the overflow, but it does a good job of keeping the noise down.

How you like the 250? Thanks

Unfortunately I have yet to get this tank up an running. The two Varios return pumps I ordered at the same time as the skimmer (via my LFS who used Coral Vue) took 1 month to arrive and both arrived damaged in shipping. So waiting to get that situation resolved and the replacement parts e.g. pump housings, impeller etc has prevented me from using this skimmer. The pump parts arrived this Thursday but I live a long distance from my LFS so I won't be able to get them until next week. I have plumbed this tank and as soon as I get the replacement parts for the pumps I can fill it up and get going. So long story short. I won't see this skimmer in action for at least another 30 days.

Sorry to hear that. I ordered one last night. This thing is hard to find online

Aquavitro products in general aren't sold online. They are meant to only be sold at LFS. I like and respect that, but it has been frustrating getting info on them. I want to know dimensions, foot print, etc.
