Seachem Aquavitro skimmer

I bought one of these months ago (I suspect shortly after they came out) because my SRO died and I decided to roll the dice on what the LFS had in stock. It's actually been the best skimmer I've ever had (not that that means much, but I have been doing this for almost 20 years) - extremely consistent output (I get about half a skimmer cup a week from a low-stocked tank), not at all "twitchy" with varying water levels/conditions, quiet.

The filter sock is an odd decision though. I modded it out using half of a 1" union (which fits nicely where the filter sock went) drilled to heck with some 1" plumbing (with a 45) to get rid of the splashing. Super easy, and it works OK.

My nitrates are at 1.6, which is right where I want them, so it seems to work (but I have an ATS as well, so its not the only filtration).

For the 125: 9"x8" footprint. 22" tall to get the skimmer cup out. There is this nylon filter sock on the overflow that is HUGE (like a foot long). It filled everything and covered my probes (mounted in the same chamber). So I tied it off at ~3-4" long to keep it from interfeering.

The 125 is 22'' tall? I'm afraid I have no room for the 250 then. I called seachem the other day. They told me the 250 is 530cm tall. So there must be something wrong with the measurement they provided.

It may be, but I get my cup out easy with that clearance.

Found a link that describes them .
I have used their salt concept day 1
But I don’t think these skimmers can be external.

I own the 250 and I just measured it. And from the bottom of the base of the skimmer to the top of the Skimmer cup when seated is just over 20 3/4". You would need another 1" to remove the skimmer cup.

The back of my 250 manual lists the skimmer height as follows: Model 125 17.7", Model 250 20.9" (the cup lid has a slight crown ) and the Model 500 at 25.2" tall

Thanks so much. It gonna fit. I have 25 inches of clearance. Thanks again

In like the modularity of this new skimmer. That should make cleaning it a snap.
That said I'm not sure about the swirling turbulence inside the reaction chamber. I've used a lot of different skimmers and have built quite a few myself and IME turbulence is never a good thing.

It is only in sump ? It can it be used external or recirculating ?

Aquavitro products in general aren't sold online. They are meant to only be sold at LFS. I like and respect that, but it has been frustrating getting info on them. I want to know dimensions, foot print, etc.

The wholesaler we order from at the lfs I work part time at says that they are not for online sale. I wonder why

You can use it as an recirculating skimmer if you use a second pump to feed raw water. Its not meant to use out side the sump.

It is designed as an in sump skimmer. Although I could imagine someone getting creative and turning this into a out of sump skimmer. The re-circulation requires an additional pump but the connection is on the body of the skimmer.

Ive been using my 250 for a week, and so far so good, the filter sock is a pain in the a.. Though not gonna lie. The way they design it will make a water trickle sounds in the return, but if your sump is under a cabinet, you should be solid.

How is the noise level? I had mine for few hours now. The air silencer has an annoying humming sound. The maxspect ad600 I had before is dead silent.

Mine was humming on the first day too. After the first 2 days when it finally broke in, its quieter than the first day, but not entirely silent if that makes sense the noise level from the pump is still not the best out there, but its understandable from such big pump. What annoy me the most is the return through the socks create a watee trickle sounds.
