Great minds think alike. I got it in from chewy. I would have started Sunday but the lfs was being dumb.
Last night I dosed waste away. Whoops. Tonight I dosed refresh. Tomorrow refresh than waste away.
Tomorrow phosphate should be here and I'll dose that as well. I'm keeping food the same.
Friday the 5 micron socks will be in. That's for the dino as well.

Another idea is to buy a whole house filter. I was thinking about setting that up with a 5 micron filter to pump tank water through especially at night when these little beasts enter the water column. Much like a Diatomaceous earth filter.

Asking for a friend: are Dino’s something that gets into your tank like velvet/aptasia, or is it something like cyano that’s always there and just proliferates in times of tank imbalance?

Seems like the same reason I got dinos. I tried refresh, waste away, and live rock enhance while filtering dinis through 10 micron sock. I was dosing no3 and po4 for about a month, and then decided to pull the chaeto out and let the tank get 'dirty'. Once my nutrients went up I did a 3 day blackout and they were gone. Now I am battling po4 that seems to be coming from nowhere and giving me some gnarly uglies. Using phosphate rx 2 a week but it still comes back up without no3 raising. I am thinking that my dry rocks soaked up po4 while I was dosing. Maybe just pull your chaeto and skip the dosing?

Yes rocks soak up a ton and than release it back into the water. I'm going to try not to pull the cheato because I really want a mandrin.

After the nutrients came up, the dinos went away, and the gha started to grow I threw chaeto back in the fuge with a shorter light cycle.

Yep I did that as well. I cut back lights to 3 hours.

You can't keep them out of the tank. On a side note Zooxanthellae is a type of dinoflagellates.
Dino seem to bloom under 0 phosphates and or 0 nitrates. They are photosynthetic than when the conditions become right they start eating other organisms and release a toxin to reduce competition.

The treatment is to raise phosphates and nitrates. They also seem to explode with water changes. Something in The synthetic salts help fuel dino growth. Stopping all water changes. Dino are bigger than 5 micron a 5 micron socks with help. A Diatomaceous earth filter will also help since it filters down to 1 micron. (@Katrina71 Diatomaceous earth filters will help with ick and other parasites.)
uv is a nother treatment. Both of these work for the dino that enter the water column at night.

We are sure 99.9% sure the old man, skeeter, has cancer and in his final days. Today we found a large hard mass on his chest. He hasn't moved since the vet visit. I offered him is favorite treat. He looks and turned his head away. One can tell he isn't doing well. It's breaking my heart.

So sorry to hear man :/ He's such a beautiful dog. You all had many wonderful years with each other though and that's special.

I haven't scoped it. It's definitely dino and looks like the osteo I had last time. It's not on the sand. It's on the corals and sides of the tank.

Yes but they feed both ways. It's them going from photo to pred that's very bad. Uping the nutrients gives the more complex organism a foothold and they will choke out the dino. Uv does really help.
