Sharing BRSTV’s video!

What makes you say this?
Watch their videos and interviews. They don't even know or understand how what they are selling works. It is pretty embarrassing. Apply that to the price point compared to normal sample DNA sequencing and they are providing multiple sequences for a fraction of the cost out of an apartment... it is pretty self explanatory.

not like I can set their price. When there’s no competition there’s not much you can do. Sounds good though, hey don’t charge me that much! Didn’t work.
They do have competition, you just have to look for it.

Ok ok I suspected and then I found. Exploring a strange website I found that just popped into my head out of no where. I wonder if they sell live rock. ;0

Do you think that there is a competitve web site out there that sells mangrooves too?

when I was getting the base of my tank going i went with dry rock...the live rock was so much more expensive and I didnt understand why
I think that's what a lot of people new to the hobby just don't understand... They see they price difference and of course the LFS wrongly assures them it's just as good

Duh, some folks have rocks in their head, and others just rock.

BRS adds rock for the needy.

No of course not this was just their science experience and results lol.

Just bear in mind that BRS is a company that wants to sell things. It's not an unbiased entity like Consumer Reports, nor are they scientists.

I ended up going with dry rock and live sand, but would have gone with the live rock if I understood it’s value at the time.

Moral of the story…. Back in the mid 90’s, I know I’m old, I started tanks with real live rock plucked from the ocean sold at the lfs. I also used saltwater that was pumped from the ocean and sold at the lfs. Both were cheap and abundant at the time. Over 20 years, no pests, no tank crashes, no real ugly stages, some would just call it luck. My first new tank, with over 20 years under my belt, Marco rock, bare bottom, ulns….. let me tell you, I’ve had every problem known in the universe with this thing for the first two years! Three years in and it’s finally stable and taking off, but now I’ve lost most my vision so I can’t enjoy it! I think it’s always been safe to say that real live rock is the way to go, or cooking it…. Funny about that is I remember the rc days of people actually cooking or boiling rock! I don’t think the seeding of a dry rock tank with a bio brick from someone else’s sump is necessarily bad, but I haven’t seen it jump start a tank as much as was touted. I also remember purple up and that was the best way to start coralline, we’ll I guess not. I also remember live sand being the best way to start a tank…. Guess not, a raw shrimp the best way to start a tank…. Guess not, there’s too many to list and all were on certain video series from certain vendors…and all touted as science

I really enjoy BRS and Ryan, but I feel like this is going to lead to "SUPER BRS BIOME STARTER KIT" being sold when all we really need to do is make some reefin' buddies and bum some rock and sand/mud from those old tanks.
Interestingly enough I was curious about setting up a system like this just the other day..
For instance, say you could get a group of people to each send you 1/4 of a cup of their sand, a tiny piece of rock (maybe chiseled off a back corner or sump piece).. what effects that would have on a new system.

I discarded the idea when I realized there is no way to assure the people who are providing samples do no have some sort of disease or whatever.. included lol

Normal people “what a really informative talk”

Me, paranoid reefer: “I bet my apex starts ordering aqua forest products and copepods direct from BRS without my consent”
It depends on if you enabled Alexa in fusion
