Shipping question??? Help a reefer out…

I live in northern New Jersey and I have 2 coral shipments going out tomorrow for Friday delivery. One from Orlando and the other from Detroit. I heard from a good source fedex Memphis is shut down and it looks like bad weather on Friday…. Do you think I should postpone my shipments or roll the dice??? Mother Nature is a picky lady

I would definitely postpone or ship with ups. FedEx will have your boxes sit there for days

I'd play it safe since any delay probably bumps your delivery until Monday.

I'd postpone, I had to postpone one shipment this week also.

So if your package goes through Memphis it will probably go through my area to you, and I just got a notification on my phone that between noon tomorrow and Friday morning we're expecting 4-8 inches of snow.

I got mine bumped up a day and got them shipped today. Hoping to beat the storm. If you’re nervous about it go with your gut feeling and delay. Corals are happy where they are no reasons to send them on a crazy journey.

Seeing they'll both hold them until next week most places will. Memphis is a hell hole for deliveries certain times of the year. I set all my stuff to come like the 20th-ish this month and I'm hoping things clear up by then.

Lol see point taken nothing is happening right now and they are still shut down! Memphis is where packages go to die.

As bad as the Memphis hub normally is I'm curious how horrible it must be for them to make a public statement saying they're having delays.

Also, I doubt this will be your choice to make with the expected weather. I doubt any vendor would ship anyway. I guess unless you absolutely insisted on it.

Welp something is definitely going on there, they are calling it weather. Had an overnight delivery due this morning and is delayed for who knows how long now last scanned in Memphis. Statement from FedEx... "The FedEx network has recently been impacted by severe winter weather across the country. We continue to closely monitor weather patterns, especially those developing in Memphis that could potentially impact tonight’s and tomorrow’s operations (January 5th and 6th). Additionally, the Omicron variant of COVID-19 is affecting staffing, putting strain on operations, much like it has the entire airline industry. Employee safety is our number one priority, so please expect delays. "

You would think a good vendor wouldn't send anything out and let someone know but I dont think all vendors check what hub they're packages are going to go to. If I was a vendor I would though. I think she ordered from reputable people.

The last statement explains why they are having the problem. Not sure if it’s virus or employee related

My guess is that is the problem, plus they suck to start with so any staffing issues just compound the problem. I'd say the weather part of the statement is just a prediction not an immediate issue.

postpone for sure my guy I just got a shipment from WWC 2 days late.... poor octospawn and birds nest super ticked UPS has been ok though dont know if you can get them to change shippers

I have 3 deliveries coming tomorrow. I changed deliveries to be at the local FedEx/UPS store which is 1.3 miles away. This way I’m hoping they aren’t on a truck and will be dropped at store as soon as they reach my city.
