CC OG Black Hole Sun, very bright pic doesn’t do it justice. The bottom is an acan maxima, lavender with lime and yellow...that baby is big. Hard to find a maxima.

Very interesting those black holes! Love them... haven't seen anything like those before. CC...Cherry Corals?

I am a budding acan enthusiast but had a couple of basic questions before buying a few more. The few I have, I place on individual rocks and then on the sand. Is it worth moving them to my main structure to start to grow there? Do I need to put them on increasingly larger rocks for them to thrive as they grow? The second is can they be placed directly on sand or do they need some sort of rock structure?

Beautiful polyps! :D I've never had a toadstool/leather but I'm thinking of getting one. What do you like about your toadstool?

honestly, i love the way that the toadstool has a lot of "personality" compared to other corals. also the rate at which its grown, the color and the motion of the polyps in the flow. (mine has pretty long neon green polyps. Ive caught my male clownfish hosting in it on occasion. And it occasionally retracts its polyps and sheds its outer layer for about a week. its exciting to see the polyps reemerge after waiting through that period. and finally, mine was my first coral. so it holds a special meaning. im going to do my best to keep it thriving no matter what.

I think they're quite adaptable and can grow well on rocks or in the sand. I've always kept mine glued to a frag plug or a piece of rubble rock so I'm not sure about your question on direct placement on the sand.

I recently heard about this. Had no idea toadstools shed. Was watching a video and they said sometimes you have to help pull away the shed skin stuff. That's crazy awesome. How often do they shed...do you know?

in my old 5g tank it seemed to shed once every month or two. but since i moved up to a 40 gallon tank with more flow and better lighting, i havent seen it shed in about 5 months. it has grown a ton though. i think it has to do with how ideal their environment is? idk. im sure there are some threads on here about that in more definite detail. sorry to hijack an acan thread.

I LOVE MY ACANS! lol
